My other half doesn't like running laps as she doesn't want to be passing the same places. I am not so bothered as you at least know you are making progress and how far you have to go. I think most parkruns are limited on where they can go and so laps are the easiest option. At least I don't get lapped very often at my usual course that is 2.5 laps.
