Fuel Price Reduction or Political Cruise?

It's sad to say that the government of my country is using us to catch cruise nowadays. Our current president, Bola Tinubu, met the petrol at ₦187 per litre when he assumed office 3 years ago. He immediately removed the subsidy the very day he took the power, and now he took the price all the way from ₦187 to ₦1,400. Can you imagine the gap?

It's crazy, and the bad part is that the subsidy money he has been generating – we can't see anything he is using the money for except travelling the whole world with Nigerian money.

It's been survival of the fittest; the price of fuel determines the price of almost every other commodity in my country, and so the hardship has been real.

Now, this is the catch! The election is barely 100 days away, and our president Tinubu and his APC members have seen Nigerians as fools they can toil around, and they've decided to play smart. Imagine declaring through their spokesperson, the Finance Minister, that they have heard our cry and will bring down the price of fuel and give you a reasonable discount for 30 days so that everyone can breathe fine? What a nonsensical smart move!

At first I was happy we could see petrol buy at a cheaper rate, but it was only a fake promise. We were happy about the news and eagerly anticipating the new price at which fuel would be sold. I rushed to the station and received the shock of my life. These players only removed ₦66 from ₦1,400, and only for 30 days? What the heck! 😭😭This means that instead of buying fuel at ₦1,400 per litre, it is now ₦1,334, which is nonsense to me – no tangible difference.

In fact, filling stations around me are selling it at ₦1,370 per litre, just ₦30 less than the original price, and what do we call this?. I am pissed off, honestly. The government is doing much to get us frustrated, but God will win.

We shouldn't be surprised anyway because the same president, Tinubu, casually said, "Subsidy is gone," the day he was sworn in, and the price of fuel immediately skyrocketed overnight till date, like play like play. Very inconsiderate set of government, who doesn't care about how the poor masses survives; now they are campaigning for another tenure, God forbid. May God save Nigerians for real.

The election is just around the corner; let's wake up, get your voter card and vote out this wicked government so we can breathe fresh air again!

In a functional country Tinubu would be in jail, but tribalistic ama greedy citizens are the problem in this country

The price of fuel is skyrocketing, and if care is not taken, it may continue to rise. All the promises made to us was not fulfilled. Instead, things have only become harder for everyone. I just pray that people make their decisions wisely when the next election comes.
