Are the brawls rewards even worth the struggle?

image.png

A while ago brawls really felt required to earn merits, to get gladiator cards and of course to earn SPS. Nowadays with all the new modes, you will not earn more merits or sps, than if you would simply run a bot to take care of survival and wild. Merits are earned in mass with random boxes and there is no really need to play brawls.

This is just my today's Survival SPS (and i am NOT one of the big guys)

This should no be a rant, it is just my personal opinion. I like a lot of the changes. But i think active guild playing should get much more love. Most guild have to fight with frays in higher tiers. And a lot of players do not really care any anymore about brawls. But in my opinion the guild system and esp. features like Brawls should be a core mechanic, which should get a higher focus.

Please let me know your opinion, i am really interested, what you think

I think it really depends on the deck/player. For new players survival and wild are not really viable options. With a bot playing for me I won 14 rounds out of 75 last season and got less then 1 sps.

In the last brawl I got 27 sps, which with my average win of sps in modern is the same I would get from around 40-50 wins. Pretty good for lining up a few matches.

That said, there does seem to be a bit of an issues with brawls as it's often the case that less than half the people don't show up. In the last brawl I was in I had 3 of 7 show up. In one brawl I had only one opponent show up.

I think Splinterlands does have an issue with retention like many games do. People get bored, or frustrated because they hit a plateau that they can't beat without spending significant amounts on improving their deck or life changes and it just loses priority.

It'd be cool if they added some kind of PvE elements to guilds similar to the fight against the troll in the campaign. I also think we need some new gladiators.

What do you think would make Guilds more interesting?

Well, I think it's certainly worth playing brawls if you're already in a guild and helped with the years of struggle and work to get to the top tiers. Once there, it's not a lot of effort to enter your brawl teams and earn some small rewards.

On the other hand, are guild brawls getting boring and need care and attention? Absolutely. Fortunately, Dave has said on The People's Guild podcast that guild updates are on the radar and will be getting attention. Nice to know the team hasn't forgotten about guilds at least.
