Para ese entonces, estábamos también (al igual que hoy) atravesando una situación de país que ya es por todos conocida. Lo anterior, sumado a lo económico y a lo sentimental, me llevó a tomar una decisión trascendental: salir de mi país en la primera oportunidad que se diera, para reencontrarme con mis hijos, quienes pedían a gritos nuestra presencia. Ellos, residenciados en Argentina, nos ayudaron enormemente a sobrevivir lo que muchos no pudieron; trabajaron desde que llegaron, lograron obtener sus documentos en regla y gestionaron los nuestros.

Yo llegué a este país con una patología (osteoartrosis degenerativa) que ya casi no podíamos financiar ni con nuestros salarios ni con la ayuda de mis hijos. Esto ocurría tanto por los medicamentos para hipertensos crónicos como por los que me tocaba comprar para mis otras patologías . Allá los medicamentos escaseaban y solamente se conseguían aquellos “genéricos a lo venezolano”: blísteres que traían de otros países y que venían adulterados. En muchas ocasiones, llegué a comprar algunos clandestinamente porque no había suficiente. Todo ello fue mermando mi salud, ya que no eran efectivos y no mostraba ninguna mejoría.

Al llegar a Buenos Aires, me compraron una póliza para controlar mi salud sin ningún problema. Así fue como comenzó mi paso por las clínicas y hospitales de esta ciudad. Si bien es cierto que vivimos cerca de un hospital público, durante dos años fui tratada en clínicas privadas; era lo propio. Hasta que recibí mi documento de residencia permanente y ahora estoy en total control en el Hospital Perón, en el Partido de Avellaneda.

At that time, we were also—just as we are today—living through a national situation that is known to everyone. That context, combined with economic and emotional factors, led me to make a momentous decision: to leave my country at the first opportunity to reunite with my children, who were desperately urging us to join them. Living in Argentina, they helped us immensely to survive what many others could not; they worked from the moment they arrived, managed to get their own paperwork in order, and handled the arrangements for ours.

I arrived in this country with a medical condition (degenerative osteoarthritis) that we could barely afford to treat, even with our salaries and my children's help. This was due to the cost of both my chronic hypertension medication and the drugs I needed for my other conditions. Back home, medicines were scarce, and the only ones available were "Venezuelan-style generics"—blister packs brought in from other countries that were often adulterated. On many occasions, I even bought them on the black market because supplies were insufficient. All of this took a toll on my health, as the medications were ineffective and I showed no signs of improvement.

Upon arriving in Buenos Aires, my family purchased a health insurance policy for me so I could manage my condition without issues. That marked the beginning of my journey through the city's clinics and hospitals. Although we lived near a public hospital, I was treated at private clinics for two years; that was the standard course of action. ...until I received my permanent residence document, and now I am in full charge at the Perón Hospital in the Avellaneda district.

En cuanto a mi salud, les diré que estoy en control con un reumatólogo, pero no sé si es debido a la edad o simplemente porque me toca, desde que comenzaron a hacerme exámenes de todo tipo han descubierto otras patologías, y hay una en específico que no me deja avanzar bien.

As for my health, I am under the care of a rheumatologist; however—whether due to age or simply because it was bound to happen—ever since I started undergoing various tests, other conditions have been discovered, and there is one in particular that is really holding me back.

La osteoartrosis me fue diagnosticada cuando yo era joven, pero como casi todos los jóvenes, nunca presté atención a la palabrita “degenerativa”, y eso fue lo que ocurrió a lo largo de los años. Esto, aunado a problemas de circulación y a presentar edemas frecuentes en ambas piernas por la misma causa, trajo otro diagnóstico nuevo: la famosa fibromialgia. Entonces, en la actualidad estoy confrontando estos deterioros de salud que, si los hubiese atendido a tiempo, tal vez no hubiesen aparecido.Lo pero es ue me generan demasiado dolor y constante. Es por ello que debemos ser cuidadosos con lo más preciado que nos regaló Dios: nuestra vida y la salud. Como dice la frase aquella..."Nunca es tarde cuando la dicha es buena" Pues estoy tomandolas riendas seriamente. Espero que me alcance. Saludos y cariños para quienes gentilmente visitaron mi post.

I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis when I was young, but—like most young people—I paid no attention to that little word “degenerative,” and that is exactly what happened over the years. This, combined with circulation issues and frequent swelling in both legs caused by the same problem, led to a new diagnosis: the infamous fibromyalgia. So, I am currently facing these health issues which, had I addressed them in time, might never have developed. The worst part is the constant, intense pain they cause me. That is why we must take care of the most precious gifts God has given us: our lives and our health. As the saying goes... "It is never too late for a good thing."
