[Movie] My Take On Apocalypto

This movie tells a story about what the men really stand for in their territories, warriors and providers for their homes. The man continues to ensure nothing happens to his home no matter the circumstances that befalls him. I saw that from all the men from a small forest of hunters who fought with their lives to protect theirs aboard, their families and culture. 

They got defeated and the village was conquered but never accepted defeat. The main character of the movie was able to safe his pregnant wife and son in a pit dug somewhere hidden in the village.

I was impressed by how these brave men stood up for themselves though in their little numbers. The craziest part happens to be when they were completely in boundage in the hands of their captives. Like any person will react, fear grip most of them because of the brutality that was done to slaves like them in the town of their raiders. Few of them gave up after the horror maltreatment but the main character of the movie (Apocalypto) was working with the knowledge and mindset that was passed down to him by his foreparents which was "Do not fear and don't give up in whatever circumstances you find yourself".

They were about to be slaughtered for sacrifice and like any human, fear should take hold of you completely in front of the knife, but only one of them still stood in faith and fearlessness that nothing would happen to him. Funny enough his colleagues were slaughtered right in front of him but he believed a miracle can happen.

It was about his turn to be slaughtered then something happened. What we see as "Eclipse of the sun" was portrayed to be something spiritual in the movie. Their raiders believed their gods were satisfied with their sacrifices and no more sacrifices should be done.

They moved the remaining captives to prison waiting for a perfect day to just waste them in the bush. They believed if they're not sacrificing them, they should be wasted as none should go back home. I think I understand what that meant because when you set the captives free, you probably might get struck back in retaliation at any given opportunity they have.

Everyone was killed but the main character (Apocalypto) escaped their arrows and found his way into the bushes after killing one of the soldiers son who was supposed to stop Abby slave that tries to escape, obliterate them more like the "Finish him" stage. It was a tossle between him and the raiders. Anyone that watched the movie can tell strength wasn't just enough for Apocalypto to win back to his village, meet up with his lovely pregnant wife who delivered in the pit and was together with his little son. The wife was another clear example of courage and determination. While her husband was in captive for days, she spent those whole days in that pit. While her husband was running scaling hurdles back to the forest with the armies coming after him, she was holding onto every hope and possibility that remained in her, that her husband was coming back. In the rain, in the sun she was there in the pit hole and even delivered her baby in that harsh condition. The tomb was almost full with rain but she held on.

Although this is a movie setting, I think everything about the movie goes beyond just the entertainment side, there are allot of lessons to get from the movie. The man expressed masculinity through bravery acts and strength, the wife played her role with the kids where her husband tried and hide them. Nobody was competing power, they were just fulfilling their roles and fulfilling it in the best of their abilities.

Faith, bravery before strength is my take home from the movie. What you believe works for you was the message from the movie. It's sure an interesting old movie and I am glad to share with us my review and take on the movie.
