Here I’m sharing two fruits that often get confused: the catuche and the guanábana (soursop). They are completely different, yet many people think they are the same.
You can see here that the guanábana has smooth skin, whereas the catuche has a different shape and a bumpy, textured skin. The guanábana has very small seeds and less pulp compared to the catuche, and the color of the pulp differs as well.
The guanábana tree grows near rivers and in cool areas; a friend of mine has a tree she brought over years ago, and it is already bearing fruit. The day before yesterday, I found the one I’m showing you here; it has a wonderfully pleasant aroma and a central core inside, as you can see in the photo. So, I want to clarify that the catuche and the guanábana are not the same thing; the catuche grows in home gardens, and its juice is delicious and has medicinal properties.
