Do You Understand HIVE? .:. Walk & Talk Series

As 3Speaks works so well, I'm on a mission to use it more in the future... 😃 For those who were here in the C19 times, you remember I was doing short videos almost daily... Well, I don't think I will manage to repeat that, but I do plan to get back into the routine of doing these Walk & Talk videos at least once per week month (ooops... that's probably a bit too optimistic 😃). Also, I'm not sure if you have seen it, but we have a whole new audio/podcast universe integrated on 3Speak, and you can check out this post for more details about it...

Back to the video... My 2nd #WalkandTalk in less than a month! 😃 The topic? HIVE! I know I talk a lot about HIVE in my posts, but I get triggered to do it... for different reasons, people, comments, posts... The premise was: what if we have too much content about HIVE on HIVE? Is that true or not? I remember the days when over 50% of the content was about HIVE, but nowadays, I wouldn't say it is like that... As an @Ourpick curator, I do crawl through HIVE a lot to find quality posts, and I see a lot of content that isn't related to HIVE, but rather talks about life, nature, photography, philosophy, etc. I do use a small script that helps me narrow down good content, but still, it would catch more HIVE-related stuff if there were an excess of it... Which means I'm not in "the bubble"...

Because of all that, I think we need more content about HIVE... Not for us OGs (or maybe some need it too), but more for newbies on the chain... We need more "role models" among Hivians that those newbies can follow... A Hivian isn't the same as a YouTuber... A Hivian is a person who creates, but also a person who supports others... It's not just a selling person, but also a consumer person...

And the most important, Hivian isn't just a taker; it's a maker too! Hivian doesn't just create content, take rewards, and go away... A real Hivian keeps their HivePower and supports others... Without people who support others, HIVE is nothing...

    Thanks for the video, @ph1102: it's nice to see you out for a walk (too bad about the car noise!)

    Maybe I missed it, but: have you ever addressed the fact that 75% of the rewards pie is split among just a few users, while most others are left with the crumbs? Have you already discussed this topic in other posts?

    Good point about content about hive... This was my strong suit back in the days. It's true that a tiredness settled that prevents me from posting outside of liotes lately. Maybe we should all kick each other in the but and think less about big projects and do some posting ;-)

    Well mate, in summary and basically as you've already said throughout the entire video. We don't think that lately and from some time now, there are truly many Hivians on Hive left whom we can really call role models.

    Though I am just recently active on Hive, I don't see much of the video content on threespeak, it's good to have yours, kind of a motivation.

    Yeah, a YouTuber or a general social media users is different from a Hive User, because the blockchain is more community oriented, so basically sometimes it's important to understand that people are different. Sad reality with the account you talked about, but I hope we don't have a lot of people with that mindset.

    3speak looks way nicer now, but I don't think I have seen any ads outside of itself yet though. I think Hive has changed quite a bit, and there definitely aren't as many social people anymore. They are out there though.

    Wow, this is a really interesting discussion. If you hadn’t mentioned it, I wouldn’t have even realized that there are so few posts discussing HIVE these days. This sounds like a great idea for my next post.

    Regarding comments, I agree with what you’ve said. Lately, I’ve noticed that most Hivians just post, post, and post, without ever leaving comments on other people’s posts. It’s even more unfortunate that some accounts never respond to comments left on their own posts.

    I have to check out videos again on @threespeak before I stepped away from the blockchain I was aware of them working on it and it was getting better everyday, so I can imagine it's as optimal as ever now. I also uploaded a few videos back in the day, but not sure if I am going to do much of that now that I'm back on HIVE, but it's great to know the platform is alive and kickin'

    Thanks for this post @ph1102 ! We definitely need more content on basic Hive economics like how to convert Hive and HBD to and from fiat and how upvotes benefit the voter and the voted. And then there are bonus features like SBI that are really cool but a Newbie wouldn’t know about them.
