After an amazing week in Split it was time to say goodbye. It was so nice to finally put some faces to all the people I've been interacting with on the Hive blockchain over the last years. I'm not sure though, why it took me 6 years to attend my first HiveFest 😅 I will come back next year for sure!
The last week was packed with interesting presentations and panels about projects on Hive and about things coming in the future (hopefully soon). Besides that I had a lot of great discussions about various stuff on Hive. The evenings were packed with lots of community activities and some partying. Thanks to the organizers and the community for making all of this possible and for making this such an amazing experience🤩
On Sunday evening sadly it was time for me to say goodbye and I boarded a bus to Budapest at 9pm. This was kind of the wrong direction for me, as I would need to go back to Austria, but there were not many options for transporting my bike. I arrived the next morning at 8am and was already expecting a few difficulties, as it had been raining an extreme amount in Austria / Czech Republic / Poland, the days before and there were already some news of extreme flooding coming in.
In the morning I finally received the news, that (almost) all trains to and from Vienna have been canceled, for at least Monday, but difficulties are to be expected until Friday.
So I would be stuck in Budapest for at least one to two days..
Not too bad though, as I've never been there before, so I would just work remotely for a few more days and explore the city a bit. I booked an appartment in the center and looked for a cafe, where I could work from for the day.
In the evening some more news came in, that trains would not be going for the next day as well (as already expected). So I started looking for alternatives and found another bus, which would be going from Budapest to Munich at Tuesday evening. I decided to go for it and booked it. Who knows, when the trains will be going again.
On Tuesday (today) I did some more exploring of the city and again worked for most of the day in some cafe.
The Danube is starting to get quite high here as well, so I'm glad to leave here soon. Looks like it's almost overflowing already, but at least one to two more meters are to be expected in the next days.
Goodbye Budapest, hope to see you again in the future and have more time to explore.
On my way to the bus terminal I even encountered some Hive😉
I hope the rest of my trip back to Austria will go as planned and I will arrive in Munich tomorrow morning and then it should be only a train ride of 1.5h to finally reach my hometown.
