Running the Nexus 5K Anniversary Race
Hello everyone. Over the weekend, I decided to take part in a 5K race organized for the first anniversary of "Nexus," a local sportswear store. These 5K events have blown up in popularity in recent years. While I don't usually follow mainstream trends just for the sake of it, as a calisthenics athlete, I find these runs to be a solid opportunity to test my endurance against seasoned runners.
I arrived super early—in fact, I was the first person at the venue. Even though the grounds were still empty, you could tell a massive setup was brewing, complete with inflatable arches, a main stage stacked with lighting and sound systems, promotional banners, and vendor booths. As night fell, the crowds started pouring in and the race officially kicked off. Honestly, the course felt completely smooth and manageable. I crossed the finish line among the top group with a time of 24 minutes and 15 seconds. I definitely could have pushed for a faster mark, but I chose to keep a steady, comfortable pace this time around.
After grabbing some water and receiving the participation medal, the post-race party was already in full swing with flashy lights, balloons, and high energy. Personally, it felt pretty dull to me—the music wasn't my thing, and there were no food, drinks, or beers available at the venue. I didn't stick around long and opted for a long, quiet walk back home to cool down my legs, clear my mind, and grab a warm cup of coffee (yeah, night coffee is the best). It wasn't the absolute best weekend outing, but it was certainly a different way to break the routine.
Without anything more to add, I bid farewell. Stay tuned for future posts! Until next time!
