Peach Blossom moth caterpillar (7 macro shots)

Greetings! Today I’m sharing a brief photo report on an encounter with—and observation of—a creature that was new to me. Yes, it’s a caterpillar again! (For some reason, this summer has been incredibly rich in caterpillars... and stingy on mushrooms.)

The distinctive texture — triangular polygons — helped with identification. In any case, I am inclined to rely on the option suggested by Google. According to it, this is the Peach Blossom moth's caterpillar (Lat. Thyatira batis).

This is how the grown moth looks like: very spectacular! (The photo is not mine, copyright by Harm Alberts, source). I definitely never seen such a moth myself, althought I'd love to. We dont have any peaches at all, only apple and a few plum trees.

Just for me, she even dangled at her silk thread and demonstrated how she winds herself back onto the plant. A real model — performing a varied, spectacular dance instead of standing frozen in a single pose with one well-rehearsed facial expression :)
