New views of the beach awaited me after walking down an alley next to the Salvador Allende Clinic. I had never explored this area before, but I ventured into this neighborhood because I know that the people of Caigüí are very friendly.
As I walked toward the beach, a dog came out in front of me, and although it didn’t seem aggressive, it’s better to be safe than sorry, especially in unfamiliar territory. I thought about turning back and taking another route, but its owner immediately brought it under control with a commanding voice, so I continued walking toward my destination: the ocean.
My eyes marveled at the scenery—it was truly enchanting. Here are some photos I’m sharing with you. The beach was beautiful; the blue was intense, and together with the sky, they created a scene worthy of an artist. Everything around me was peaceful; the waves were gentle, and that slight movement helped create a relaxing feeling.
The shore was rocky, so I managed to walk over the rocks, balancing like a tightrope walker, to get better angles for my photos. Even though I didn’t have the right shoes, I was able to pull it off, which gave me a great sense of satisfaction.
During my tour of this area, I was able to get a sense of the way of life of the people in this community, since a significant portion of the population consists of fishermen—hence the number of boats resting on the shore, waiting for the right moment to set sail.
I think the experience here was different because I captured images from a perspective that’s usually reserved for those who live along this shore—since most people who walk along the boardwalk and the Cinta Costera do so from the boulevard.

La orilla estaba pedregosa, así que me las ingenié para caminar sobre ellas, al mejor estilo equilibrista, para tener opción a mejores ángulos de fotografía. Aún cuando no tenía los zapatos apropiados pude completar la tarea, lo que me dejó una gran satisfacción.
En este recorrido por esta zona pude apreciar la forma de vida de los habitantes de esta comunidad ya que una parte importante está conformada por pescadores, de allí la cantidad de botes que reposaban en la orilla, esperando el momento idóneo para zarpar.
Considero que la experiencia por estos lados fue diferente porque capturé imágenes desde una mirada que suele estar reservada para quienes habitan en esta orilla debido a que la mayoría de las personas que recorren el malecón y la Cinta Costera lo hacen a partir del boulevard.
