I'm already in my 50s and I have learned that everyone has a different way of learning. For me I can learn very fast and sometimes I struggle a lot. It actually depends on the subject or the situation. Sometimes when something is harder to someone else I find it very easy and it naturally happens, while other things take more time than it's required. Some of these works require practice and patience. So, it depends totally on the person and the situation, Looking back at my own life, I can think of one thing that was easy for me to learn but it hard for most the people including boys.
Since my father died earlier, I always wanted to help my mother. She didn't want to teache me it I forcefully did it because I felt it's basic and necessary at for survival. In Bangladesh a boy learning house chores as a big thing and sometimes an issue because everyone has misogynistic mindset. So, at first it wasn't way for me as I didn't know how name of the ingredients. But slowly I learned it and now I'm a great cook. When my wife is sick I often try cook instead of her. I did not need many instructions to learn cooking, I learned by watching my mother cook. Over time, I became comfortable in the kitchen. I enjoy cooking new dishes for my wife and children. Cooking taught me that I learn well when I have dedication or willpower.
On the opposite side, learning new technology has been a headache for me. At first using smart phone was a bit struggle as I was stuck with button phone. So, learning to use smart phone was a struggle for me. As I have no one to guide me and I had to figure it all out by my self. As technology kept updating it's been really hard to use smart phone because everyone now and then they have new updates which are very confusing. I have sometimes found it difficult to keep up. As the new features of the phone is hard to use, I usually watch YouTube videos to learn more about it. For example, Ecency was very hard for me to use at the beginning but slowly I learned to use it and it became very familiar to me now.
Being older does not mean that I cannot learn. There's no age limitation for learning and we can learn from anywhere, any time. When there is new information, it takes us time to adapt with it. We have to learn about something slowly and take one step at a time. Anyway, these two experiences taught me something important about myself. I may learn some things quickly, but I should not judge myself when something takes longer.
At this age, I feel learning is never limited and we can learn at any time or at any age. Life will be teaching us and we should be able to accept that learning.
