Challenges of Being a Mom of a Single Child!

Challenges of Being a Mom of a Single Child!

Life did not give me the joy of being a mom for the second time till now, but blessed with a baby boy 7 years ago. And I truly feel gifted for that.

I have been through a lot during my 'want to be a second-time mom' journey, as you can guess. Now, I accepted it and look forward to what I have, not just what I can't.

Being a mom of a single child is challenging. Yes, I have less laundry to do and less financial expenditure. But the toll it takes to raise a child who doesn't have anyone to play with and share his true emotions is another kind of challenge.

What I faced most difficult in all these years was Keeping my son socially engaged.

I'm an introvert, so he also becomes socially less active. It's very hard to get him to talk to strangers or start a conversation. I'm his main communicator. That's why I have to push hard to make creative space for him, arrange play dates, or do outdoor activities.

I have to do it all alone.

Ensuring a childhood in which he can look back and smile is another challenge. There's no one that he can play with; this is certainly a big thing for us. When he was a toddler, he used to enjoy playing and spending time with me. But as he is growing up, he doesn't anymore.

He looks for some more active playing like football. But he doesn't like my presence but wants a mate who he can share things with.

Seeing this is challenging for me as I don't have any quick solution.

I ache my heart seeing him growing up alone. I'm the one who disciplines him, and I'm the one he has to come for fun and entertainment. It's hard emotionally for him, and he is growing u with a lack of emotional resilience.

No matter how much effort I put in, there is always an empty void between us that we all can feel. My husband is very active and tries to do his best, too. But the thought of my son growing up as an alone adult, kills me.

We are worried about his well-being and his future. Our love and support are not enough when these things are different. But what can we do other than do our best?

We hope to navigate these challenges with everything we have!

We're the same, I have only one child. The challenge is she doesn't have someone to play, so I and her dad are her playmates, which is sometimes exhausting. I can relate to some of your experiences. Maybe God has his own purpose or maybe one day.

Mom's job is always difficult and in all cases. But I am sure that your son will have a happy childhood as long as he is with you. Lean on his schoolmates and create extra activities that he can do with them. Cheer up mom.

The important thing is that he/she is a healthy child and enjoys what he/she likes, and does not lack support and affection from you. Remember that things don't come when we want them to, but at the right time.

My children are still in their toddlers years, I can't relate to your right now, because they are very clingy but I know they will not be forever like that. As long as we are there to support our children they will not feel alone.
