The Hive Token is fighting furiously to hold the $0.043 line

The above graph has been taken from CoinMarketCap. It shows the today USD trade value of the Hive Token ($0.04312). If we look closely at the graph we can see the tokens upward trajectory started on August 19th/20th. The USD trade value of one Hive Token on those dates was $0.037+. Soon after the Hive Token hit near $0.047 USD per token. Those numbers represents a 27% increase in token value. A correction (dip) after such an increase is normal and is to be expected. As I sit and watch these charts over the past days and weeks I can't help but be surprised at how well the Hive Token is holding the value of its most recent pump. Even at today's going rate of $0.043+ that increase in USD value still represents a 16% improvement from recent lows. Folks, that 16% number is nothing to sneeze at. I have to admit, I was gearing up to purchase some $1000 worth of the Hive token near the $0.037 mark but I held out a little too long.

My procrastinating got the better of me. I am now looking at and contemplating when I should make the move. If I was asked that question and were to answer seriously. The answer I would want to give: now, even at +16% increase the Hive Token is still highly undervalued. However I would never give that direct advice to someone as financial decisions need to be based on ones own specific goals and finances. While I have faith in the Hive ecosystems long term success, short term price movement is unpredictable in just about any cryptocurrency market. As per what my own actions are going to be. I got this little bugger in me. A man who takes enjoyment at rolling that dice. A guy that wants to say I purchased at the best possible time. It's the same guy who happily declares they were one of the first to toss his hat (cash) at the leading blockchain game known as Splinterlands. That guy is a major part of that procrastinating. There is also a logical guy in there that makes sure I have hedges to secure another profitable move. So while I am currently in sit back and watch the Hive market mode -> I also have another move in mind for that $1000 USD worth of HBD. That move can be summed up in three little magical letters DEC, a Splinterlands gaming token.

The above link will take you to TribalDex (Powered by Hive-Engine). TribalDex hosts many layer two tokens. Such tokens are more commonly known on the Hive Blockchain as community and gaming tokens or simply called Hive-Engine tokens. One such token is the token known as DEC (Dark Energy Crystals). As we went over in the first paragraph of this post; DEC is a Splinterlands gaming token. What makes this token unique is the Splinterlands team accepts DEC at the ratio of $1 per 1000 DEC for assets like in-print core sets. If we take a close look at the most recent image displayed in this post, the one directly above this paragraph, we will see that DEC is currently trading at $0.00033 per token. This is great news for those looking to purchase a bag of DEC for purchasing Splinterland assets. Why is this great news for such people? It means the DEC token is 66% below its soft peg. Put another way: that is a 3X gain on assets sold by the Splinterlands company for those who spend their newly acquired DEC on Splinterland assets (when weighted against spending USD on those same assets). For those who like to speculate and hold the DEC token. If purchasing DEC at current open market rates. That is a 3X gain if DEC were to reach its soft peg.

Historically DEC has dipped and regained its soft peg or come close to its soft peg multiple times. The spike in DEC trade value usually happens around the same time a new core set is released. A jump from $0.00033 to $0.00100 is no small task but it also isn't an impossible one. Making this token a nice hedge bet against my own procrastinating. For someone, like myself, who is already committed to Splinterlands it makes perfect sense to go this route if I don't purchase more Hive Tokens. The worst that can happen is DEC doesn't recover and I still get 3X return in Splinterand assets for the traded $1000 HBD. Do I really need more Splinterland assets? Yes, yes I do; more is always better than less when it comes to such things. Do I really need more Hive Tokens, absolutely. Do I need to wait to see what the markets do before getting more? Absolutely not - today's prices of both are what I consider exceptional for today's buyers. But I will wait regardless. Another day or two of watching the markets to see what trajectory each token might be perceived to go in. When the first pump took off I initially had the thought of jumping in the Hive Token market if the Hive Token were to dip back to $0.0400. I will have to re-evaluate that number.

The above is the DEC trade graph dated from Jun - Aug. As you can see DEC has also seen a pump in value that started in late July and peaked during this month (August). There has been slight pull back but nothing to be alarmed about. I currently hold a small amount of DEC, somewhere south of 400,000 DEC. At today's DEC trade value of $0.00033 per token that equals to $132 USD worth of DEC tokens. If I were to trade that 400,000 DEC for in print core pack sets I would be able to get $400 USD worth of packs. So you can see how looking at the DEC market before making your Splinterlands purchases can be beneficial. Of course this deal can't be applied to community markets such as secondary pack markets or the in-house card market found on the Splinterlands site. As noted already but important to highlight - such only applies to specific assets the Splinterlands company sells. Are you holding a bag of DEC? Have you been hoarding all your Hive Tokens? The release of Arena Vanguards cards helps the price of DEC to go up

  • It is good to see that the pump on DEC is still sustained in the past days

I think this is good as it proved it can move with the market in this bullish bump. The question is when the bulls will really come if it can go up and hold the line higher. For some reasons Hive experience extreme swings without serious consolidation, but hopefully it will prove me wrong in the future.

I believe that Hive will eventually break the 4-5 cents mark and will reach again its high figures

  • I've been pouring my liquid assets into Splinterlands cards. But thats boring to you traders out there. Any crypto I come up with gets put in cards pretty quickly. btw another great use of DEC is buying the Wild season pass $2 or 2000 DEC. 40 Vouchers is an even better deal.
