Hello movie lovers! Today I’m gonna share another work of Wong Kar-Wai…this time a short one. I didn’t expect this film to be so short, and I only recently discovered it while browsing his works. Like the usual WKW film, it’s frenetic, dream-like, and definitely chaotic.

There’s also that weird couple who seemed to always be in fights, not just normal verbal fights, but ones that involved guns and burning stuff. There isn’t so much dialogue either prolly because it’s actually a promotional film that’s made for a certain Japanese fashion designer. No wonder there are some shots that are oddly focused on how the characters put on their clothes.

Like the acting and the editing, the way characters dress is weird yet kinda stylish. I definitely struggled taking screenshots because the way those scenes unfold were too fast. There’s no moment of pause; it just kept on showing snippets of how the strange pair, who were by the way, a Japanese and Chinese couple, live together. Theirs is a strange kind of relationship…and until the end, it kinda didn’t make sense to me. But one thing was clear to me, and that’s what the man kept on saying…they’re fucked up.

I don’t know why I find it somehow hilarious at the end because the man regrets that he wasn’t able to tell the woman that he’s a super fucked up guy…like isn’t it obvious the whole time? I think no decent man would last with that woman. I’m not sure if it’s a language barrier or something that always prompts them to almost kill each other, but I think that’s somehow related to those guys eating watermelon?

Anyway, before I overthink this promotional film, I just wanna appreciate how WKW was able to hook me with this 240p at max short film. It’s definitely intriguing and for all its confusion and laughs it gave me, I’ll give it a…
My Rating: 3/5
Before I end this, if you don’t want to strain your eyes with that version, here’s a shorter, more trailer-like one that’s clearer and less pixilated.
That would be all for today, movie lovers! See you in my next review :)
The pictures used were screenshots from the promotional film.
