Important Announcement Regarding The Future of Rising Star

risingstar_logo.png

Good News and Bad News

  • First the bad news - Rising Star will be shutting down in it's current form.
  • The good news - Blockchain Gaming, run by @wagginston, will take over the management of the game and will be working with the Rising Star community to relaunch it taking everyone's feedback into account. I (Jux) will also be part of this new team as an advisor and some of the developers in the community have agreed to be involved in various ways.

Weren't You Going To Make The Game Self-Sustainable?

Yes it is true that I have been working towards this goal since this long bear market started however a few things have happened that have meant this is not happening fast enough and the costs are now too prohibitive for this to work anytime soon.

  • Firstly the HBD interest rate dropped from 20% to 12%, that's quite a difference and had an immediate hit on our plan.
  • Secondly our hosting company increased their prices
  • Thirdly HIVE has not started to recover and I really had hoped that it would have done so by now but the entire crypto market is struggling at the moment. Things do seem to be indicating that we are likely to be at a bottom and recovery should happen in the future but we could still be many months from that recovery starting.

The Straws That Broke The Camel's Back

A couple of things happened in the last week that were the last straw - some of the Hive Engine bridges were hacked and some HIVE & Hive Engine nodes shut down. I have tried to get the game running again on different nodes but none of them have worked. Even if I could get them working I have had issues in the past where the game was blocked from using them after a while as we put a lot of calls in. I had also started accumulated some SWAP.ETH & SWAP.SOL and those funds were stolen during the hack. They weren't large amounts but were part of the plan.

The Next Steps

I will be cancelling the current hosting contract soon and if possible will leave the game running until they shut down the server so you can at least play and have a think about what features you would like to see in the relaunched game.

I will hand over management of STARPRO & STARBITS to Blockchain Gaming and will stop selling those tokens.

The Rising Star discord will probably be the place that Waggi wants to discuss things so I will keep that going.

Conclusion

It has been a lot of fun running Rising Star for over 6 years. I have learned a lot and met some amazing people, many of whom I now consider friends. I want to thank everyone who has supported the game through the good times and the hard times and hope that you will continue to support Waggi and his new team as they work towards relaunching in the future. Please keep in touch with him in Discord so that you end up with the game you really want and can enjoy for years to come.

Lastly a massive thank you to the two people that have been with me since the beginning and have worked for almost nothing, @theturtleproject and @nupulse. Rising Star would not have been possible without you!

Cheers and rock on \m/ Jux.

Hive is not only a shitty blockchain, but also a dead one.

  • @uwelang(79)· 92d

Sad news but you did a great job here - even I am not linked to the game as to other games since ages I remember our talks and the way you tried to make this game sustainable and fun for the community!

  • @myanmarkoko(72)· 92d

I couldn't believe it when I heard this news. I've been playing this game for 6 years and I'm really happy with it. I feel a little relieved because of the good news. Thank you Jux for leading such a great game and community on the Hive Platform...

  • @lorddiablo(74)· 92d

I have played many crypto games just like many others from 2021 and that time they promised the future of games on a blockchain. Sadly started from last year I had to leave a lot of them behind, because the leader of the projects left or shut down their projects.

My only two games left (which I play daily) is GO and Rising Star and within the last two months I learned that these two games is shutting down soon as well... This is really sad and gives me the real feeling that HIVE is indeed dying. It is sad to see you go as well and I think my experience from the last few years will make me stay away from blockchain games and not because I lost money with them (more or less I made profit on them), but because not many people understands them and know about them, so it is hard to get new audience. Plus big companies are not even trying to use the blockchain, which is also pretty sad.

Anyhow thanks for everything; it was a good journey and wish you a good luck in life and in your future projects! 😇

Wow all those years of providing stems for the cards for free and not a mention or thanks. I spent 100's of hours doing that.

Topic: Closure of the current version of Rising Star and relaunch under new management. Impact of the reduction in HBD rates (from 20% to 12%) on the sustainability of Web3 projects. Infrastructure vulnerabilities

    Tags: #risingstar #hiveengine #web3gaming #blockchaingaming #hive #cryptonews #playtoearn

Claim: Due to increased hosting costs, HBD's interest rate reduction to 12%, the stagnant HIVE price, and the recent hack of the Hive Engine bridges, Rising Star will shut down in its current format and transfer the management of its tokens (STARBITS/STARPRO) and the game to Blockchain Gaming for a future relaunch co-designed with the community.

    Stance: support

00:00 — The author begins the post by presenting some good and bad news for the game Rising Stars.

Why it matters: The closure and relaunch of Rising Star impacts Hive on three levels: it defines the future of its players' assets, serves as a case study on the infrastructure challenges for developers in the face of node failures, and demonstrates how financial governance decisions directly affect the sustainability of projects.

Karma's a bitch. Hope you die in pain.

    Hi,

I have enjoyed playing RisingStar, mainly because I'm tone deaf and couldn't put a tune together to save my life.

Yet RisingStar created a story, rising from an illegal street busker to an international rock star.

I might be tone deaf, but I like music and grew up in an era where I Wanna Be a 'RockStar'.

So, thank you, Jux, I've thoroughly enjoyed playing the game and I hope the new Team can keep it moving forward.

    Regards,

    b8l

This is sad news indeed as you created a wonderful game, a great community and truly supported lots of independent music! I mean what an achievement over the last 6 year you and the team should feel very proud. I have loved being part of RS and the game and the cards have kept me laughing and entertained for so long so thank you for all the good times and the friendship and enjoy whatever you do next! Big up.

This was a bit of a shock for me. I really appreciate all you have done over the years. This game has built an amazing community and done a lot for Hive musicians. I can appreciate that it was a lot of work for not much monetary reward. The current state of Hive can't have helped.

I really hope that some version of the game can continue as it is part of my life now. Obviously people will be concerned about their game assets, but I was never too bothered about the value of those. The fact that people could start for free will have brought a lot of others in and maybe they earned something from it.

Cheers and beers. I hope we can meet up again some time. Well done to the whole team on building something amazing.

The sense of security that the entire Rising Star team instilled in its players is unparalleled.

Today I woke up, did my things, and started playing, clicking as usual, trying to keep up with my daily goals: reaching level 250, getting more cards, and not dropping in the ranking. Around mid-afternoon, I logged into the Discord server to see which cards had been sold and if anyone had posted any cards in the trading area. I saw a huge amount of posts, sadness, farewells, ideas, and announcements of relaunches... I realized that the security the game gave me was, and still is, being shaken by the replacement of the entire founding team of this project. My heart is breaking...

You @nupulse, @theturtleproject, @risingstargame (Jux) created a beautiful game that made me feel like an artist, and I say it whenever I can: that's what made me fall in love with the game—the music, NFTs that could play music. For me, that was wonderful.

Thank you for everything, guys. Thank you for the security you made us feel. The whole market is going downhill, and you were there fighting the good fight. Many projects with huge budgets or massive communities vanished in the blink of an eye, and you kept going without flinching. Thank you for that stability in this ever-changing world. Thank you for your patience, for clarifying our doubts, helping us solve problems, and for protecting us like the great leaders you are. Thank you for releasing new NFTs every month without fail. Thank you for supporting my content. Thank you for all the legendary cards that brought me so much joy in the packs. Thank you for everything.

Best of luck. You guys are the best!

  • @ivanc(62)· 94d

Sorry to hear that Jux.. Your game is great. I wish you all the best in whatever you do. I consider you a Friend as well along with Turtle and Billy. thanks for being such a big part of my crypto experience starting with Atom collector Records.. You were the first person I talked to in my travels along the road through the block chain forest.

  • @bokica80(69)· 94d

RIP my 450usd, but i will stil play until last breath of game ;) Good team, good people, good community, tons of NFT-s. Tnx Jux for create my own NFT, that is first time someone craft NFT in my name, that will stay in memories.

  • @clove71(77)· 94d

Sad news to see you go as the owner of Rising Star but you did great for 6 years! It was a lot of fun! It is awesome that Wagginston will keep it going!

  • @newenx(69)· 94d

Well it's a bit sad but hopefully this marks the beginning of a new era for Rising Star, I will continue to support the game as always and will still do my weekly giveaways as I have no reason to stop!

Thanks a lot for everything that you have done, maintaining this for 6 years must have been hard for you, I really appreciate it. I'm more than glad that I have been a part of this journey and I'm looking forward to see where it's headed now.

Jux we've known each other for many many years and you know I appreciate you a lot, keep up the great vibes as you've always done, I will be there to support the game and help in any way I can moving forward!

Also massive thanks to @theturtleproject and @nupulse because certainly they have been key in keeping RS alive!

    Cheers mates!

  • @ugochill(66)· 94d

:( So sad to read this. On the other hand what a Ride this was. So proud of everything.

Much Love, we keep in touch dear Jux.

  • @imfarhad(74)· 94d

that's sad to hear about closing down. Being playing for so many years now. Had been investing my time and resource to move up the players ranking. I guess nothing last forever, atleast the hope that it will be re-launched later, keeps a bit of hope alive.

question: @risingstargame, what happens to the NFT's / cards i have in the game?

    !BBH !ALIVE

  • @behiver(77)· 94d

Said to see you leaving, but there is hope of continuance as you hand over the game. And it would be a petty for it to end as it gsthered quite a community around it.

  • @myothuzar(73)· 94d

Thank you for all these six years. Rising star is surviving a long time because of you.

  • @proto26(68)· 94d

Wow. This is the end of an era. At the least the fact that the game wants to continue shows the strength and support of the playerbase. Thanks for creating a fun and unique game that lasted a good run. I hope it continues for years to come.

  • @mydempire(57)· 94d

But I just started to play and understand the game! 😞

  • @risingstargame(73)· 94d

Meant to mention I will keep the curation trail going and will vote Rising Star posts and music posts as always.

  • @ph1102(79)· 94d

Oh, no! 😔 There is no "good way" to deliver bad news, or to receive it...

Thank you for all your efforts and the work of the team behind the game! I know you did your best to make it self-sustainable, from the time when everyone else was just pulling the rugs on players... I was proudly saying that Rising Star is/was my favorite game, as there is a great community behind it, with a great leader!

All the best in your future endeavors, and hopefully, we will have another drink again, somewhere on the globe... 🍻🍻

  • @nupulse(71)· 94d

Fantastic 6 years, thank you Jux!!!!!
