I am going to start by stating it straight-forwardly that, 'AI is taking over and it is taking over really fast'. Initially, when AI was first introduced, people would use it only in games and factories and stuff. It was less accessible to ordinary people. But then, it started evolving slowly. After a while, Chatgpt and some other AI services were introduced that could copy the works of Google in a more strategic and detailed way. This brought humans immense amount of Comfortability. Now we humans like our works (be it chores, our job or anything that challenges our comfortability) to be done and completed in a more easy and comfortable way. It's in human's nature. Now people who used to actually use their brains and work around and find solutions to their problems, they are doing that with a simple type and click. Then after some time, AI evolved even further. Now it can make pictures and videos of a person. Which already sounds very dangerous. Moreover, it can also use pictures of a real person and make videos of them. Now, people all over the world are calling for stricter regulations on AI. But, the main question here is that, "Is AI really the enemy here?"
Well there are two answers to this question, YES and partially YES.
Yes, because it is because of AI that we are facing these situations. These situations has become really disturbing because it involves lack of consent, damage to reputation, humiliation, difficulty removing the content once it spreads and possibility of innocent people being portrayed falsely. AI has created new ways for people to cause harm that were previously much more difficult or expensive.
Partially YES, because humans are the ones who are doing all this stuff. Suppose, we would not use AI. Of course, we would not face these situations. We can take a gun as an example for this. A gun does not fire itself. There has to be someone who pulls the trigger. The same goes for AI. After all, it's us humans who are giving all the prompts and commands to the AI.
Now about the regulations. AI should not be banned or completely removed from the system. Well, it cannot be removed because there are really massive companies who are using and promoting AI. What the AI companies can do is that, they can put stronger safeguards into their systems. They should introduce AI safeguards for their systems. Furthermore, creating certain types of content that could lead to the above mentioned consequences should be made illegal and even if one is made, then platforms should remove those content immediately. The AI companies or even the government should put punishments for the people who deliberately misuse AI.
In Conclusion, AI is a powerful tool, so is the mind of a person. If both are put in good use then it can do wonders. However, if they are used wrongly then it can lead to really dangerous consequences.
