You may have already noticed that there’s a chess game inspired by the game Holozing available on scrobble; well, I actually just discovered it myself not long ago, and my mind was blown when I saw the pieces, their characters, and how each piece’s power corresponds to that of the characters in Holozing.
I really love the board design, and what I love most is that the background is black by default. I also like the colors of the lines on the board—the ones that appear when you select a piece—and the dots that show where you can move.
Although, it took me several minutes to figure out which piece was the rook, the bishop, the queen, and the king—and to try not to call them by those names—though I don’t know the characters’ names by heart either, so I just kept saying, “It’s the raccoon’s turn.”
Ustedes ya habían visto que en scrobble hay disponible un juego de ajedrez inspirado en el juego de Holozing; bueno, realmente lo vengo a descubrir hasta hace poco y me estalla la cabeza al ver las fichas, sus personajes y cómo se identifica el poder de cada ficha con el de los personajes de Holozing.
La verdad es que me ha encantado el diseño de la tabla, y lo que más amo es que todo el fondo es negro de forma ya predeterminada. También me gustan los colores de las líneas de las tablas, los que se colocan cuando seleccionas una ficha, y los puntos que salen para indicar las opciones de hacia dónde puedes moverte.
Aunque, me ha tomado varios minutos tratar de asimilar quién ocupaba la posición de la torre, el alfil, la reina, el rey y tratar de no llamarlos así, aunque tampoco me sé de memoria los nombres de los personajes, así que solo decía: "Viene el turno del mapache"
I like the idea that you have the option to invite a friend to play, and the process is very easy—nothing difficult or complicated that would scare off your companion. It also has a practice mode that lets you figure out how each piece moves, and there are three difficulty levels for playing some great games against the bot.
When I first discovered the game, I played a couple of rounds and took screenshots of some of them to share my great moves with you, and I’d like to point out three things.
- I’d like to be able to rotate the screen to better appreciate each piece of art (I think these pieces are works of art) and get more familiar with the board.
- I’d like the option to customize the background and also to personalize the Holozing-inspired board to my liking.
- The ability to chat with your opponent within the game or maybe send some memes to tease them.
Other than that, I don’t think there’s anything else—and as I’m writing this post, I’m even thinking about organizing a sort of mini-chess tournament.
Me gusta la idea de que tiene la opción para invitar a jugar a un amigo y el procedimiento es muy fácil, nada difícil o complicado que espante al acompañante; también tiene un modo de juego que te permite practicar y así ir descubriendo el movimiento que da cada ficha y tienes tres niveles para invitar al bot a jugar unas buenas partidas.
Cuando descubrí el juego, me jugué un par de partidas y de alguna de esas tomé la captura de pantallas para compartir mi gran jugada con ustedes y debo acotar tres cosas.
- Me gustaría poder girar para así apreciar más cada obra de arte (pienso que estas fichas son un arte) y familiarizarme más con el tablero.
- Que exista la opción de personalizar el fondo y, asimismo, la opción de dar un toque a gusto al tablero inspirado en Holozing.
- Posibilidad de chatear dentro del juego con el contrincante o tal vez de mandar unos memes como para burlarse.
De resto, creo que nada más, y escribiendo este post, hasta se me ocurre la idea de organizar como especie de minitorneo de ajedrez.

From my experience as a player, I can say that the bot thinks through its moves very well, although sometimes it misses a few things—and that might also be due to the game’s difficulty level. But even on easy mode, if you’re a beginner, you won’t have it easy if you think it’ll be a quick game.
In the screenshots, you can see how I started with a simple cat, and out of nowhere my raccoon was already out, and the bot already had pieces strategically well-positioned. And yes, you have to think about how your opponent might play in order to try to survive.
En mi experiencia de jugador, puedo decir que el bot piensa muy bien las jugadas, aunque en algunas oportunidades se le escapan unas cosas y puede ser también el nivel de dificultad del juego, pero aun siendo en el modo fácil, si eres un principiante, no la vas a tener fácil si crees que será un juego rápido.
En las imágenes puedes observar cómo inicié con un simple gato, y de la nada ya tenía a mi mapache afuera, y el bot ya tenía fichas estratégicamente muy bien posicionadas y, sí, es necesario pensar hasta en la forma en que el contrincante jugaría para así tratar de sobrevivir

Check this out: when you select a piece, the board shows you where you can move and whether you can capture one of your opponent’s pieces—though you should think very carefully before making any move, since you might be sacrificing one of your best pieces. In my case, my goal was very clear: to protect the queen—who can make any move on the board—and, of course, to protect the king.
Vean eso: al seleccionar la pieza, se muestran los lugares hacia donde te puedes mover y si hay opción de comerte alguna pieza del contrincante, aunque debes pensar muy bien antes de hacer cualquier movida, ya que podrías estar sacrificando una de tus mejores piezas. En mi caso, mi objetivo era muy claro, y era el de cuidar a la reina, que es la que puede hacer cualquier movimiento en el tablero, y, lógicamente, cuidar al rey.

Sometimes the game gets really interesting—you take on the role of the hunter, trying to find your opponent’s best pieces to clear a path to checkmate the king—but then you miss an opportunity here and there, and that’s when you run the risk of losing. Another point is that, even when playing against the bot, its moves aren’t always that predictable, which forced me to change my strategy more than once—and, yes, it really threw me off.
Anyway, if you’re a chess lover, you already know you can get this game on the Scrobble website and enjoy it while listening to some music of your choice.

En ocasiones, el juego se pone tan interesante, ya que adoptas el papel de cazador, para ir a encontrar las mejores fichas del contrincante para abrirte espacio para atentar contra la vida del rey, pero luego pierdes una que otra oportunidad y es allí cuando corres el riesgo de perder. El otro punto es que, aunque juegues con el bot, no siempre sus movimientos son tan predecibles y eso me hizo tener que cambiar la estrategia de juego en más de una oportunidad y, sí, me ocasionó mucha incomodidad.
En fin, si eres amante del ajedrez, ya sabes que puedes conseguir este juego en la página de Scrobble y disfrutar de ello mientras escuchas alguna música de tu elección.
