Greetings, friends of the #LadiesofHive community. This week, we are invited to reflect on two questions posed by our dear @ifarmgirl. Everyone is invited to read and explore the topic if it appeals to you: Ladies of Hive Community Contest #308
Do you have an inner critic? What is its favorite phrase? When does it speak the loudest? And if it were a person, what would it be like? How would you describe its personality?
To be honest, while I am kind to others, I am not always so kind to myself. We are often our own harshest critics; we constantly worry that we’ve done something wrong and try our best to fix it. We often dwell on the things we’ve done poorly, but I think we should focus on what we’ve done right. Since my favorite phrase to tell others is "may life treat you kindly," I think I should say that to myself once in a while, too; that way, I could appreciate all the good things that happen in my day.
My brain never stops thinking—not even when I’m asleep. I tend to look for my own flaws and mistakes, yet overall, I am a very positive person who always believes things will turn out well, never badly.
Mistakes can be corrected, and there is no need to be too hard on the person who makes them; they are learning opportunities that will ultimately help us solve problems. Honestly, I don't think I resemble anyone I know or anyone close to me. My desire to help others often exceeds my capacity for work, so I frequently have to give myself a rest—not just physically, but emotionally. I cannot tolerate injustices committed against others, yet I often fail to defend myself against injustices committed against me.
My conscience is like a train that constantly comes and goes, clearing the path wherever it travels.
What does true rest (down time) look like for you? How can you allow yourself more of it without feeling guilty?
It is a strange combination of a vacation and visiting family that keeps me from feeling bad about taking this six-month break in Spain. For me, true inactivity doesn't exist because I am always on the move, even while resting—it sounds strange, I know. It is natural to feel bad for others who aren't taking the time to enjoy these nearby places. I have family members who haven't made the effort to visit the historical and cultural sites in the country where they live. So, for me, resting means writing about these beautiful places.
Catching them during my downtime amidst beautiful sunsets—just like the ones I’d have in Venezuela, yet enjoyed here in Spain—without feeling bad about being here.
