HiveSuite Development Update: Web3 EVM Login & Proxy Integration

Secure EVM Signature Validation

The backend authentication flow has been strengthened with a 5-minute EVM signature expiration validation.

This adds a time-based security check to Web3 authentication and prevents older authentication signatures from remaining valid indefinitely.

The expiration window provides a balance between usability and security while ensuring that authentication requests remain time-limited.

Web3 Proxy Posting

Web3 users can now publish content through the Web3 proxy infrastructure.

Proxy posting support has been enabled for:

  • Posts
  • Snaps
  • Comments

This allows Web3 users to participate in HiveSuite's content ecosystem without requiring every publishing action to be handled directly through the native Hive account authentication flow.

The backend now acts as an important bridge between Web3 identity and Hive content operations.

Web3 Identity in Hive Metadata

Web3 identity and provider information has also been added to Hive metadata.

This allows published content to retain information about the Web3 identity and provider associated with the action.

Maintaining this identity information is important for consistently representing Web3 users throughout the Hive ecosystem.

Web3 Proxy Configuration

Support has also been added for Web3 proxy environment-variable aliases.

This provides more flexibility when configuring the Web3 proxy infrastructure across different environments and deployment setups.

HiveReactKit — Web3 Identity & Wallet UI

Wallet Provider Badges

HiveReactKit now includes wallet provider badges for major supported wallets.

These badges provide a visual indication of the wallet provider associated with a Web3 account.

This makes wallet-based identities easier to recognize and improves consistency across profile and authentication interfaces.

Web2 & Web3 Identity Labels

Clear identity labels have also been added to distinguish:

  • Web2 profiles
  • Web3 profiles

This is particularly important now that HiveSuite supports multiple authentication types.

Users can now more easily understand what type of account they are viewing or currently using.

Web2 Provider Detection Fix

The profile identity detection logic has been improved to prevent Web2 providers from being incorrectly classified as Web3 accounts.

This ensures that Google, Apple, and other Web2 authentication providers continue to be represented correctly even when Web3 functionality is available within the same application.

This separation is important for avoiding incorrect wallet badges, profile labels, and account-specific functionality.

Web3 Profile Capabilities

Web3 users now receive appropriate profile functionality, including:

  • Profile tabs
  • Daily credit badges

This brings Web3 profiles closer to the overall feature experience available to other supported account types while keeping identity-specific behavior intact.

HiveSuite — Web3 Authentication Integration

Web3 Authentication State

HiveSuite now handles Web3 authentication state throughout the application.

This allows the application to correctly determine when a user is authenticated through an EVM wallet and adjust the interface and available functionality accordingly.

The authentication state is propagated to the relevant components so Web3-specific behavior can remain consistent across the application.

Web3 Wallet Header

The HiveSuite header has been updated to provide a more useful representation of Web3 accounts.

The header now supports:

  • Shortened wallet addresses
  • User avatars
  • Wallet provider badges

Instead of displaying a long EVM wallet address that can consume significant screen space, the shortened representation keeps the identity readable while preserving the recognizable wallet information.

Hive RPC Compatibility Improvements

EVM Wallet Address Handling

One of the important technical challenges was preventing EVM wallet addresses from being incorrectly passed into Hive RPC operations.

Hive and EVM wallet identities follow different address formats and authentication models, so attempting to treat an EVM wallet address as a traditional Hive account can result in RPC failures.

The HiveSuite integration has been updated to correctly handle this distinction and prevent Hive RPC errors caused by EVM wallet addresses.

This allows Web3 users to interact with the application without triggering Hive-specific account lookup failures where those operations are not applicable.

Web3 Snap Container Fix

The Snap container resolution logic has also been fixed for Web3 users.

This ensures that Web3-authenticated users are correctly mapped to the appropriate content container when accessing Snaps.

The improvement is important because Web3 identities do not always follow the same account resolution rules as native Hive users.

The updated handling ensures that Web3 content and identity information remain connected throughout the Snap experience.

Web3 Proxy Publishing Across HiveSuite

Composer & Modal Integration

Web3 proxy posting has now been enabled across the major HiveSuite publishing interfaces.

This includes support through:

  • Post composers
  • Snap composers
  • Comment interfaces
  • Publishing modals

The integration allows Web3 users to create and publish content through the same application experience while the backend handles the appropriate proxy interaction.

This brings Web3 authentication much closer to being a complete content-creation identity rather than simply a login mechanism.
