On the 13th, we had the wonderful opportunity to visit Lankagama Duwili Ella Falls, one of the beautiful natural treasures hidden among the lush greenery of the Sinharaja rainforest area. It was truly a magnificent place, where the beauty of the waterfall and the peaceful surroundings made our visit a very special memory.
As we travelled towards Lankagama, the scenery itself became a beautiful part of the journey. The roads surrounded by thick greenery, mountains, trees, and the sounds of nature created a feeling of leaving behind the busy world and entering a peaceful natural paradise.
When we finally reached Duwili Ella, the sight of the cascading water was breathtaking. The waterfall is associated with the Hariyawa stream and is around 23 metres high. The falling water creates a misty, dusty appearance, which is believed to be the reason behind the name “Duwili Ella.” A small hidden cave at the base of the waterfall adds another interesting feature to this beautiful location.
Standing there and watching the water rushing down over the rocks was an unforgettable experience. The sound of the waterfall seemed to blend perfectly with the songs of birds and the gentle sounds of the surrounding forest. The cool air, green trees, rocky landscape, and flowing water created a refreshing atmosphere that is difficult to describe in words.
What impressed me most was how naturally the waterfall exists within its surroundings. There were no artificial decorations needed to make it beautiful. Nature itself had created a masterpiece.
Lankagama Duwili Ella is also part of an area where several waterfalls can be found around the Lankagama and Sinharaja region, making this a wonderful destination for people who enjoy exploring Sri Lanka’s natural beauty.
Our visit on the 13th gave us more than beautiful photographs. It gave us peaceful moments, fresh air, wonderful memories, and a deeper appreciation for the incredible natural beauty of Sri Lanka.
Sometimes, the best journeys are the ones that take us closer to nature.
