One of the biggest mistakes that anyone can make is to underestimate their own ability. They conclude that their future is based on what their present circumstances look like. They limit their possibilities by their past experiences, and their capabilities by what they have already achieved. But what they fail to understand is that what they have achieved so far is not the limit of what they can achieve in their life. The truth is that every human has an untapped potential. You may not know it, but there are abilities that you never knew you have, there are opportunities you have not encountered, and there are heights that you have not attained yet. Sometimes you may not realise what you are capable of until life places you in a point that will force you to move out of your comfort zone.

You have to understand that whatever you are facing now does not define what will happen in the future. Your current position may look ordinary, but you have to keep reminding yourself that your potentials and your destiny are not ordinary. You will be surprised how a lot of people have allowed their background, their educational qualifications, their environment, their financial limitations, and even their past failures to convince them that some achievements are not within their reach. They willingly accept their present state to be their permanent condition. What they do not understand is that a seed does not look like a tree, but it actually has the capacity of a tree right inside it. How you look like today does not show how your tomorrow will look like. You have the propensity for growth.
However, you need to know that growth will start when you challenge yourself. The potentials you have not tapped will remain untapped until you give it the opportunity to express itself. You will not be able to discover how far you have gone until you have taken the first step. You will not know what you are capable of until you give it a try. There are times that you need to accept the responsibility that will challenge your ability, or accept things that intimidate you, or do the things that scare you. Do not wait until everything becomes perfect or until you feel ready before you take any step. Readiness will come through continuous practice, through learning, and through experience, not by waiting for the perfect condition.
It is also worthy to note that you should not be afraid to do what you have never done before. Being scared of the unknown has prevented a lot of people from unleashing the greatness that is resident on their inside. They are only comfortable with what they know but afraid of what they have not experienced. But life does not always reward familiarity. There are times that you need to take step into unfamiliar terrains. You cannot unleash the greatness in you, and you cannot become a better version of yourself if you are only confined to your comfort zone. Always be willing to try out new things, explore, keep learning, experiment, and then take calculated risks. When you stop allowing your fears to stop you from making decisions, you will be surprised what you can achieve. You are capable of the incredible, but you have to overcome your fears and take the first step.

Finally, you should not stop discovering yourself. Your potential should not be exhausted because you have achieved one milestone. When you attain a level, you should know that there are still other levels ahead of you that you can still attain. If you become too satisfied and too relaxed with your current achievement, it will make you to stop growing. So believe in your ability to keep learning, keep improving, and keep getting better. The person you are today should not become the best you will ever be. As a matter of fact, your today should not be a destination for you, but it should be a passage and a pathway to something better. You may have a big dream, some mind-blowing ideas, and some very great things that you want to achieve, but all these will remain as mere wishes until you have applied the courage to take the first step.
