Hello there! **@saydie** here, playing **Splinterlands** everyday!
The Splinterlands Hallow's Fall Event is back. If you remember, this event first started last year during the same period and will last until the first week of the following month. Similar to the previous Hallow's Fall Event, this year's event comes with a limited-time Halloween look in the game's lobby as well as the game's battle page, scary-looking card skins to bring a fresh new look for your cards, and Hollow stickers to decorate your binders. But I just can't feel the same excitement that I had during last year's Hollow Event during this year, and that might be because there is no Seasonal ruleset that is tied to this event.
But anyways, let us first look at what this Event has to offer.
Splinterlands Hallow's Fall Event
The Hallow's Fall event was like the Splinterlands version of Halloween, where people dressed in scary costumes and asked for treats. So, doing it the Splinterlands way, players got to customize their cards by equipping hollow-inspired skins onto their cards, which can be acquired directly through the Glint Shop or as a jackpot prize on loot chests. Aside from that, both the game's lobby and battle page got a Halloween makeover to match the event.
Gwen's New Shop Items
Along with the limited-time battle changes, there will also be new items that will be available in the Glint shop, some of which are directly purchasable with Glint, while some can be purchased through DEC to bring some revenue to the DAO and the team. Aside from that, there will also be event items that will be included in the loot chests, which will require some RNG luck to acquire, or otherwise, they will all be burned once the event ends.
Skins
For the skins, two different skins will be available in the shop. The Spooky Skins and the rarer Haunted Skins.
On the Spooky Skins, there will be 13 skins that will be available for direct purchase in the Glint Shop, ranging from 500-20,000 Glint, depending on the rarity of the skins. There is no fixed mint cap on these skins, but you still have to be mindful because the printing of the skins ends when the sale closes. Aside from that, the Haunted skins for Bellowmancer and Calamity are instead priced at DEC, with the sales all going into the DAO, though they were only limited to 50 skins each, so it will not bring crazy numbers for the DAO.
Frontier also gets Hallow skins that can be purchased directly using Sparks. Unfortunately, the skins were also capped at 50 and are all sold out even before I wrote this post.
There are also 5 different Spooky skins that can be found on the loot chests, but only on the Ultimate chests, and they were capped at 100 each.
Meanwhile, for the Haunted skins, each skin will only be limited to 10 copies and will be spread out among different loot chest types, giving the opportunity for lower-level players with much lower Glint reserves to also participate in the event, while also making sure that the supply for the Haunted skins will remain thin.
Jackpot Drop Rates:
When it comes to the skins in the loot chests, they come with different drop rates, depending on the type of chest. They will only be available in the Ultimate Chest, but when it comes to the cards, they can be obtained in any loot chest, though with varying drop chances. For Minor Chest, there is a 1% drop rate to get any of the Haunted Skins for Ballista Deadshot, Fenmoor Gorgon, Mana Warden, and Willhelmdale Deputy. Meanwhile, for the major chest, there is a 2% chance to get any of the Haunted skins for Auroral Elemental, Cloveria Morth'lana, and Voss. Finally, the Ultimate Chest gives 3% drop rate for Captain Frankie, Gramel the Hunger, Hanv, Loving the Moo, and Moribund Arrowbait skins.
| Type | Drop Chance | Total Skins |
|---|---|---|
| Minor Chest | 1% | 80 |
| Major Chest | 2% | 70 |
| Ultimate Chest | 3% | 550 |
Frontier will also get some skins distributed as jackpot prizes to give Frontier players more reasons to play the mode.
| Character | Rarity | Version | Maximum supply |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scales of Justice | Rare | Spooky | 100 |
| Wilhelmdale Deputy | Common | Spooky | 100 |
Stickers
If you are someone who wants to improve your binder collection, Hallows Event also has some stickers that you can choose from to make your binder cooler. All the stickers can be purchased for only 200 DEC each, which I think goes to the team this time, but since the amount is low, I do not think that it will bring crazy sales for the team.
No Event Limited Modifier
While the Hollow's Event comes with a lot of new skins and stickers, the cream and the crop of Splinterlands was still on its battle, and without the event limited modifier, the event was not as exciting for me compared to last year. The reason for this is that the team has made Blood Moon part of the normal ruleset rotation. At first, I assumed that they did it because they have a new event-limited ruleset that they will introduce as a replacement for it, but it turns out not to be the case.
Closing
So yeah, I just don't feel as excited about this year's Hallows Fall event, not without the time-limited ruleset. The team has also normalize Eggceleration as part of the regular ruleset rotation, so I might also feel the next event, lacking.
Thank you, and see you on the next post!
