English version
When I saw that "déjà vu" was the theme for Week 338 of Hive Open Mic, it really caught my attention. I thought it would be difficult to find a song that touched upon this subject.
However, I did find several; the one I liked best was by Shakira and Prince Royce.
But I already had an original composition in the works, and that is the one I am sharing with you today.
I did some research on *déjà vu*—previously, all I knew was that it was the sensation that what you are experiencing at a given moment has already been lived or dreamed before, and that the term comes from French.
Now I also know that the term was coined by the French psychologist Émile Boirac; that it translates literally to "already seen"; and—what's more—that there are three distinct types of it!
- Déjà vécu ("Already lived")
This is when you feel that what you are experiencing has already been lived—or dreamed—in its entirety before.
- Déjà senti ("Already felt")
This is when something you have just said, thought, or heard feels extremely familiar, but the sensation fades quickly without involving a fully lived-out scene.
- Déjà visité ("Already visited")
In this case, you have the sensation of perfectly knowing a new place or landscape you are visiting for the first time, and you are able to navigate the space without ever having been there before.
I also read somewhere that 70% of the population has experienced some form of *déjà vu*, while the other 30% never have. My friend Virgilio says he doesn't think he was included in that statistic because he was never asked directly, and that if the survey covered a large number of people, the percentage reflects only the reality of that specific group—not the reality of the rest who weren't consulted. Well... "to each their own."
As I mention in the video, it’s a mystery; after all, there is a difference between the feeling that you already knew what was happening—and that it is already becoming the "immediate past"—and actually anticipating a fragment of the immediate future before it happens.
So, I’ll leave you now with my original song, titled Déjà Vu, in which I also touch upon a romantic conflict.
