Every corner of the world pulses with fresh music, from chart-topping anthems to undiscovered gems and daring new voices. Any one of these artists might simply become your next musical obsession. The only way to find out is to step in and let your ears wander.

Here are eight tracks for the curious, willing to uncover something unexpected. If a song grabs your attention, follow that spark and see where it leads. If a tune doesn't strike a chord, move on to your next musical adventure.

Mötley Crüe - Nobody Knows What It’s Like To Be Lonely

Mötley Crüe is an American hard rock/glam metal band from Hollywood. They have been performing since 1981 and have released eight studio albums. They are known for their hedonistic lifestyle, wild stories (in the book and the Netflix film The Dirt), and spectacular concerts. They have sold more than 100 million albums. The song “Nobody Knows What It’s Like To Be Lonely” is an unreleased demo from 1981. They officially released it, along with a music video, a week ago. It’s darker, rawer, and has more of a blues feel than any of their later hits. It’s about a loneliness that no one understands.

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets - Juice A Jumbo Jet

I’ve mentioned Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, an Australian psychedelic rock band from Perth, Australia, many times in #newtunes (at least over the past few years since I’ve known about them). They’ve been playing since 2014 and are described as an “energetic chaos of colors and tones”—a mix of psychedelic rock, garage riffs, prog elements, and pop melodies. They sit somewhere between King Gizzard and Tame Impala. They’ve released 8 studio albums. The song “Juice A Jumbo Jet” is a fresh single they released two weeks ago and fits into their signature psychedelic rock style—great guitar riffs, frenzied energy, and a chaotic, syncopated rhythm.

The Oscillation - Bring It On

The Oscillation is a psychedelic/space-rock project by English multi-instrumentalist and producer Demian Castellanos. It was founded in 2006 in London. Castellanos records and produces everything himself in his studio. The sound is based on textures, repetition, atmosphere, and driving rhythms—a blend of krautrock, space rock, psychedelia, shoegaze, and experimental elements. It is often described as a “soundscape” rather than a traditional song. To date, he has released 10 studio albums. The song “Bring It On” is a single from his upcoming eleventh album, Interference, set for release in late October. It features a dense, hypnotic sound with drones, feedback, and a rhythm that shifts into warmer, euphoric moments.

Art d'Ecco - Disappear Here

Art d'Ecco is a Canadian band from Vancouver that has been playing since 2016. Critics compare their music to David Bowie, The Cure, and Sparks—in other words, they move somewhere between glam rock, the post-punk revival, and art rock. So far, they’ve released six studio albums. For me, they’re a new name on the scene, and I’ll be keeping an eye on them. The song “Disappear Here” is a single from their latest album, Scheele’s Green, which was released a week ago. Distorted guitar riffs, saxophone, and an energetic glam-rock vibe.

Liars - Ice Pick, Kalamazoo

Liars is an Australian-American experimental rock band formed in 2000 in Brooklyn. They are currently a trio. They’re a new name to me. They’ve released ten studio albums. Their musical style is diverse, shifting from album to album—from experimental rock, electronica, and noise rock to ambient, tribal, and more abstract rhythms—yet they maintain a dark, rhythmic approach. The song “Ice Pick, Kalamazoo” is a single from their new album A Ban On Plastic Bag Bans, which was released a week ago. They drew inspiration for the song from their local community, the fight against a polluting factory, and the protests.

The Spyrals - All In My Mind

The Spyrals are an American garage/psychedelic rock band from San Francisco, formed in 2009. To date, they have released five studio albums. Their sound combines psychedelic rock, garage rock, and neo-psychedelia with strong blues and fuzz influences. It’s repetitive, raw, and has a “live” feel. They’re known for loud, raw, energetic live performances and a DIY approach. Their latest single, “All In My Mind,” was released three days ago. It’s nostalgic, DIY-style, and typical West Coast psych.

Lost Animal - Bowl of Berries

Lost Animal is an Australian music project by Melbourne multi-instrumentalist Jarrod Quarrella. He has been performing as a solo artist since 2006 and has released two albums to date. He blends indie pop, electronic sounds, loops, tropical percussion rhythms, and melancholic, raw lyrics. The focus is on keyboards and synthesizers. The song “Bowl Of Berries” is a single and a preview of his third album, Give Some Get Some. The title is a metaphor derived from the saying that life isn’t just a “box of chocolates” but a “bowl of berries,” where the fruit symbolizes temptation, life's dynamics, and the acceptance of what is offered to you. He’s an interesting new artist for me, and I’ll be keeping an eye on him.

Sub Pop TV: The Station

Sub Pop is a legendary Seattle-based indie record label founded in 1988. It is best known for the grunge scene (Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Tad) and, later, for artists such as The Shins, Fleet Foxes, Beach House, Father John Misty, and many others. “The Station” is their YouTube series featuring selected iconic music videos from their catalog. It’s a compilation of the label’s visual and musical world across the decades, as well as a history of grunge and indie rock. I recommend it to anyone interested. There’s a huge amount of material, and it streams 24/7.
