I am reminded of one of my favorite talking points about cryptocurrency: cryptocurrency wallets are cryptographically protected, but the movement of cryptocurrency off its native blockchain through bridges and secondary tokens removes the intrinsic, bulletproof security of cryptocurrency—especially Bitcoin. This is the highest area of attack in every ecosystem, be it Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Hive. Virtually all major exploits occur when an owner voluntarily gives up the bulletproof security of their native wallet and sends their cryptocurrency via a bridge or substitute token to another blockchain.

This is a classic tale of architectural compromise.

It highlights the friction between absolute security and the desire for speed and utility.

Here is how the Liquid Network exploit serves as the perfect, cautionary parable for my talking point:## 🏰 The Myth of the Vulnerability Vault

When people hear about a $320 million Bitcoin heist, they automatically assume the vault itself was cracked. They picture hackers guessing private keys, breaking the cryptography, or overpowering the base-layer security of the blockchain. But that is never what happens. On September 6, 2026, the core Bitcoin blockchain remained completely unbothered, ticking along flawlessly every ten minutes. The math holding Bitcoin's native wallets together is virtually bulletproof. It is protected by the sheer, unyielding laws of thermodynamics and probability. To guess a single private key requires more energy than exists in our solar system. On its native layer, Bitcoin is an immovable digital fortress.

The weakness is introduced when users decide the fortress is too slow or too transparent. To get faster transactions and tighter privacy, users chose to move their Bitcoin onto a secondary layer: the Liquid sidechain. To do this, they had to use a bridge. They locked their flawless, native Bitcoin into a vault and accepted a substitute token—L-BTC—minted on an entirely different software codebase (Elements). By doing this, users unknowingly traded the cryptographic certainty of Bitcoin for the human engineering of a secondary software application. They moved their value off the native blockchain and into a complex web of code caches, optimization shortcuts, and cryptographic translation layers.

By making a fake transaction look like a cached, approved one, they bypassed the security guard entirely. They minted fake L-BTC out of thin air and used the bridge's automated exit ramp to drain 95% of the real Bitcoin out of the base-layer vault.

    We have been hearing many such cases since we have been in this market that people have hacked it and transferred money. These cases especially happen when the market is growing a lot, then people are active and try to take money, but no matter how hard they try, in the end the money they have is frozen
