Pumpkins Everywhere

I went to a Japanese garden and found a pumpkin judging contest for this #sublimesunday 1000007570.jpg These jackolanterns were carved by various elementary, middle and high school student. 1000007569.jpg I tend to favor the pumpkins that are eating a squash in my judging lol.

1000007568.jpg I suspect these were all done by high schoolers.

1000007567.jpg As there is paint and more cartoonish themes here this is probably an elementary school. My favorite goes to leonardo the ninja turtle.

1000007566.jpg Probably more middle school level here. I think I like the mangled tongue one because it is so weird.

1000007565.jpg Definitely high school level carving here. Watching too many scream movies.

1000007564.jpg This highschooler got into his dad's old vhs tapes of hellraiser.

1000007563.jpg Overall these batches were quite intricate. Pennywise probably wins here.

1000007562.jpg Middle school probably and my favorite is kenny from South Park. Interesting that middle schoolers are even watching an old show like that.

1000007561.jpg I like the leaf one. Someone rand out of time for their project and just cut a big open hole in one of them lol.

1000007560.jpg Some of these look unfinished. I think I like the green one the best.

1000007559.jpg Maybe middle school? I like the upper right one as it looks like Dr. Seuss creatures.

That's all for now, go out and carve a pumpkins Halloween is arriving soon.

  • Nice looking pumpkins. I am particular about jack-o'-lanterns. I think it should be a face and I think it should be carved. Old school. I will allow an under age exemption for painting by young children that shouldn't be using a knife. My favorite memories of my kids making jack-o'-lanterns is roasting the seeds. I spent several Halloweens handing out candy while eating roasted pumpkin seeds.

In Sweden, Halloween has absolutely exploded; before the year 2000, it was pretty much unknown. My son-in-law is from Texas. As you can imagine, we don’t just eat pumpkins anymore—we also carve a lot of them. My grandchild is completely crazy about pumpkins and skeletons.

  • Fine Pumpkin surgery with just a Norman Bates special. 🍊🔪
