[Movie] Masters of the Universe (2026) - They Dindt Morbious It - REVIEW

Source

I think that many people didn't expect this movie will finally on teathers but it was, took some time but I think it was ok ish, not bad but could have been a streaming movie although I understand the nostalgia nuke they had in their hands so they had to go for it. Masters of the Universe show a extraordinary world that is Eternia, it is full of colors, power, magic, a king and queen (that belongs to Earth), also as in this fantasy worlds, a lot of fantasy animals, including a green tiger who talks, a sorcerer and obviously a prince. All seems to be fascinating and exciting but is not perfect, apparently the writers and director take way more in consideration the fact that it could not be only a great action movie full of magic, no, no, no, now as in every action movie can't be missed the jokes, I'm not saying that it cant help and sometimes improve a movie when it appears in the correct moment but here when you think that the movie acts like a serious moment is going to be embarrassing unless somebody cracks a joke right next to it, even though Leto didnt sink this ship the movie suffer from the symptoms Thor: Love and Thunder did. The characters are good, not great but enjoyable, Prince Adam is a guy that was sent far away of his magic world Eternia so he could survive, but in his way back he must be the perfect price and on the other hand there's Skeletor that instead of being the terror or the fierce villain seems like a spoiled monster, insulting everybody around him. Things could be made in a better way, remember that much of the audience of this movie already now what is this universe about and the ones that will watch it for the first time I'm pretty sure will believe that this is more a comedy than an action movie, instead of an action universe, good against evil and magic at every moment. Jokes at every minute in a movie is not necessary, I think they put too much trust that the action, the customs, the cast and the world you are creating are the centre and had the magic that the audience need.

Prince Adam's Earth Story Moves Too Fast

Lets talk about Prince Adam after he was send away because in his new life everything change, he was a just a child when Eternia was under attack and he had to leave behind his home, his parents by his own and only with a sword. Then the movie made a jump and show us an adult Adam but now living on Earth, many years has passed and he still lost in this world and trying to find the sword he lost when traveling. The movie realy try to sell us the story where Adam has a job but his coworkers think that he is weird, he has dates but only talk about his past showing him as a total goofy and live in an apartment with a roommate that is already tiered of him talking about the same stories, obviously doesn't believe anything Adam says about Eternia, making Adam the weird one outcast, at least with a job and paying the rent. By that moment we already know that Adam has survive, trying to do his best in a world and is also his because his mom is human, in resume the movie present a dumb Adam, powerless, without the sword that continue looking, missing Eternia, wishing to return and at that moment I think, why he continue talking about that place?, because really, he is the crazy guy that people try to avoid and you can tell he can get it from others but never stops so is this kind conviction, come on makes me feel for the guy a few times, he spends all this time living in Earth to figure out that sometimes is better remain silent. Well finally the movie give a little jump, Adam found the sword and thanks to it [Teela](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0427340/characters/nm6161516/) appear in scene, since that moment the movie move and will show us a different Adam, appear his power, his strength and the love for his family and Eternia because he is back home. Yeah you notice how it all happens so fast right? it was not just me, I expected way more of that journey but it didnt happen as many of us expected.

Jared Leto's Skeletor Makes the Jokes Work

Oh Skeletor, I knoew many never notice it was Leto, under all that make is [Jared Leto](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001467/), the guy who everyone blames when he is on a superhero movie and flops, but this time it didnt, almost felt like [The Mandalorian](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8111088/) with Pascal, many dont even know its him lol. Personally I believe he is a good actor and in this movie he gave us a good performance, probably some people will believe that Skeletor is more like a joke but he shows different faces of his own. His dramatic speeches, the nonstop insults and the frustration with his own people fit a villain who thinks every entrance should stop the room at the same time he jokes about his followers missing the timing of his joke and that makes him angry, don't believe that Skeletor can't make of himself, he does it but it only shows that he can be dangerous as well and it is shown when he attacks Eternia, hurts people, threatens Adam and his family. Leto make this performance his own as many others, as Skeletor he just become him and every time he appears in a scene with Adam the movie get better. The final fight Skeletor vs Adam for sure was the best of the entire movie, Skeletor take Adam's memories to mock him, during his date, the office job he had, with his roommate in every scene Skeletor was showing in a different situation making the scenes funny enough in a good way. I mention before that so many jokes wasn't necessary but with Skeletor and his jokes it really work, Skeletor always show confidence and that confidence make every joke land at the right time.

Teela, Duncan and the Right Amount of Nostalgia

I was surprise for the role of [Idris Elba](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0252961/), he is Duncan at the begining of the story showing as a warrior that defend Eternia but after the attack that destroy Eternia he appeared as a broken man, that reunited with Adam and has a conflicted relationship with his daughter Teela, at the end he just prove himself that he still worth it, although I didnt like much watching him wearing all this costume, the healmet, the uniform, Im not use to watch him doing the superhero movie. Teela very similar to Adam, a young girl that began his training as a soldier but his home is attacked and must hide, years later appeared to rescue Adam, I believed that she would be Adam's true love but she only sees him as friend, Teela shows that is brave and demonstrate why is a warrior, after all it runs on her blood. Adam, I think that the movie take too much time making fun of his name, his costume and everything that can embarrassed him instead of making him look as the promised warrior prince but after all thats the good thing about this movie, not taking it that serious or going that hard core into nostalgia or He-Man "lore". [Nicholas Galitzine](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm5954280/) a Adam did pretty good job but is obvious that so many jokes wasn't for him or didnt fit him well. In addition the smaller characters show that were capable to carry a small scene with grace, Ram Man rams into people, Fisto uses his fist, Trap Jaw fights with his built in weapons and as the villain [Evil-Lyn](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0427340/characters/nm1555340/) create the atmosphere for the partner in crime with Skeletor that needs to create chaos and use any kind of resources to win, so this is the nostalgia part that I mention and it was the right amount.

By the Power of Grayskull, the Movie Finally Comes Together

The moment Adam goes "By the Power of Grayskull, I have the Power" damn I bet many saw it comming from a mile and scream at that scene when he finally hit it with his team all ready to go after Skeletor, the movie is complete, the cast, the music and the scale for a real team moment. I think the movie take the time to create this serious moment were all the people that are in Eternia are really there to fight for their home. Adam is ready to fight and protect his parents, Skeletor offers Adam a deal, bring him the sword in exchange for his captured parents but Adam never gave him the sword instead he tries to fight back but unfortunately his father dies, the sword breaks and Skeletor stabs Adam. The truth is that what comes after is the catalist for the main character growth, Adam has a moment of revelation and finally understand that the power is not on the sword it belongs to him very very similar to Thor so Adam return to fight and end with Skeletor. I bet many have seen the movie by now and I doubt its a schocking scene for anyone who is familiar to the story, Masters of the Universe is not a dark movie as many people probably believe it will be, despite that it shows a colourful world, a man lost in a planet that is not his, a dramatic villain with one purpose, have the power, also it doesn't embarrassed in present all the jokes they want. If a sequel is created will be better if it stayed on Eternia, it that case we can discover more about Adam's home. This movie was everything I expected, it has the right cast and the right world for make it work, never felt like over engeneer or tha the cast was to big for a story that didnt take the best of them, reason why I think it fits better as a streaming service and why I wouldnt give this movie more than a 7, so I gave it a 6.5/10.
