I'm 2-3 on betting against my own NFL team

Let it be known, I would much rather lose the $10 a week that I bet against Carolina. I would much rather they win in convincing fashion and actually be a good team for once. I would much rather this happen than win a paltry $10.

Carolina proved my pessimism dead wrong against Philadelphia a little while ago and I have to say, I am really impressed. But just like the advice I like to hand out to Cleveland Browns fans, don't get excited when you show something other than mediocrity on the field. Getting high hopes in Cleveland or Carolina is a great way to end up disappointed.

Yall should be excited, for once you aren't completely screwing everything up.

Now I am particularly happy about this victory because it comes at the hands of my least favorite NFL team (the only one that I truly hate) and to hand them a loss at home is even more sweet.

I would imagine there were not many people who made the trip from Carolina to Philly to actually watch this game since this is well-known as the stadium where you are most likely to be assaulted simply for not supporting the local team.

Philly authorities have stepped up penalties and there is even a courtroom in the stadium along with a jail, to facilitate faster prosecution of offenders so for the most part, the violence gets restricted to outside the stadium. I wish I was making this up. Anyway, that is why I dislike all Philadelphia teams. "City of Brotherly Love"? Hogwash!

I really can't find much fault in anything Carolina did. They were straight up solid on both O and D. One little criticism is something that I called a long time ago and there isn't going to be a solution for. When Bryce Young gets a defender on him, he quickly goes down. He is too much smaller than the average defensive player (or offensive for that matter) to put up a realistic scramble. You don't normally hear about him making and running plays and there is a good reason for that.

What he does seem to be excelling at is getting away from any breakthrough defenders and if he does get sacked, finding a way to limit the damage. He was sacked twice in Philly, but only for a total of 8 yards.

I am not going to change my strategy as far as betting is concerned even though I have lost more times than I have won. The Panthers have the dreadfully terrible Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week and the bookies apparently don't have much faith in Carolina keeping up this pace because even though the Buccs have only managed a single win this year, Carolina is only favored by 3 points. I will bet AGAINST Carolina even though as it stands now it appears as though Carolina should easily cover that spread.
