- Masterfully directed.
- It is both a political drama and an understated satire.
- Strong emphasis on atmosphere.
- It makes you think and does not spoon-feed you everything.

- Way too long.
- Quite a few subplots that may become tiring for some viewers.
- Especially the subplot involving the severed leg that was found inside a shark's stomach 🤷♂️.
- A slow-paced rhythm that will not appeal to everyone.
- The otherwise well-written plot takes a little too long to get going.

- A romantic ending that I really liked, even though I am not a fan of romantic movies.
- Wonderful music.
- The direction is simply okay.
- Still a very enjoyable watch even today.
- It brought to light the social stereotypes that remain deeply rooted in our society even today.
- I think it conveys a nice message that social inequalities can be overcome if people look beyond the surface.

- Richard Gere is meh for me in this movie.
- There are quite a few plot holes and gaps, but they are not particularly bothersome.
- An unrealistic depiction of the lives of sex workers at the time.
