Sunday Night Super Movies

Supergirl

When an unexpected and ruthless enemy strikes dangerously close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic interstellar journey of revenge and justice. Is it worth watching?

🟢🟢🟢🟢

  • Milly Alcock is by far the best thing about the entire movie.
  • Jason Momoa is Jason Momoa, and brings his own distinctive touch.
  • The visuals? Not bad. 😎
  • The soundtrack is simply okay.
  • Corenswet, as Superman, adds his own pleasant touch.
  • An important element of the film is the relationship between Kara and Ruthye. They have great chemistry.
  • Well-crafted editing.
  • An enjoyable watch, but that's about it.

🔴🔴🔴🔴

  • The villain is almost non-existent, poorly written, and not intimidating at all.
  • The overall result felt a little old-fashioned. 🤷‍♂️
  • The plot is extremely predictable.
  • Uninspired fight choreography.
  • It takes absolutely no risks, sticking to the safest possible route. The screenplay is thoroughly predictable.
  • There are a few parts where the film loses momentum.

Masters of the Universe (2026)

Prince Adam discovers that his home planet, Eternia, has been devastated under the brutal rule of Skeletor. To save his family and his world, he must join forces with his closest allies, Teela and Duncan. Is it worth watching?

🟢🟢🟢🟢

  • Surprisingly, I actually liked Jared Leto as Skeletor.
  • Nicholas Galitzine is just okay as He-Man, at least for me.
  • I liked that the film doesn't try to deconstruct the He-Man mythos.
  • There's an old-fashioned sense of heroism in the way the action scenes are presented, and it worked for me.
  • The iconic catchphrases and several familiar elements of the mythology are all there.
  • Knight's direction is good in certain moments.
  • Nostalgia might play a big part in how audiences respond to it.
  • There's a commentary on toxic masculinity. It's not particularly deep, but it feels sincere.
  • The music works well in certain moments. 😊

🔴🔴🔴🔴

  • Idris Elba wearing that helmet looked downright ridiculous to me. 🤷‍♂️
  • A naive, almost childish screenplay, full of plot clichés.
  • Some of the visual effects are poorly executed.
  • No real character development, especially when it comes to the supporting cast.
  • I really didn't like how the character was positioned or how the film tried to connect him to the present day.
  • Nerdy humour.
  • You definitely feel the movie's runtime.
