[Movie] We are the Millers: A Brainrot Comedy

This is a kind of movie which lives rent free in my mind and heart. I will never forget the laughter it brought to my face, when I watched it for the first time. Today, after a hectic day, I just went for it again. Usually, I do not like watching the same stuff again and again, even a second watch is kind of difficult for me. But when it comes to comedy, I can try that. Because, I think that they do not make such comedic stuff anymore. If I had to quote few examples from TV shows - the Office and Friends surely leads for me.

Before moving on to the formal stuff, let me share the all known OG meme stuff with you.

"Wait, you guys are getting paid?"

The Plot.

So the story revolves around David, a small time drug dealer who finds himself in an unfortunate situation after getting robbed. In order to make up for this, he is assigned the task of smuggling a large quantity of marijuana from Mexico into the United States. Sounds simple, right? But you have to be Pablo Escobar for this, and this is David we are talking about. So not that simple.

Moving forward, in order to make the journey look less suspicious, David comes up with the brilliant idea of assembling a fake family. Now, let me tell you guys one thing, if this was suppose to happen in South Asia, it was easily a success. Becuase, there is 0.1% possibility of getting caught.

Anyways, back to the story, he follows his plan. This way, we get the Millers: a fake wife (imagine pulling up Jennifer Aniston as your fake wife), a fake daughter (that too Emma Roberts) and a fake son (my favorite Will Poulter). Now, this movie would not have been a success without Kenny i.e. Will Poulter. He being the dumbest makes the whole experience worth it.

Do not believe me? Just watch it yourself! By the way, here is another clip worth mentioning.

Am I giving away too many spoilers? Well, I do not know. But hey, there is a lot more than this. The whole plot is filled with awkward encounters, unexpected fate, questionable decisions and a spider bitting the balls.

The Characters.

Although, I have mentioned my biases above. But, still the chemistry between the four is worth mentioning.

Along with the plot, one of the biggest reasons this movie works so well is its cast.

Jason Sudeikis as David Clark is brilliant. He plays the character with the best balanced approach. Personally, I think: he is made for such roles. His other movies such as "Vacations" and "Horrible Bosses" are the proof.

Then we have the infamous Jennifer Aniston as Rose, I doubt that she needs any explanation. She with her own charm brings hell of a fun to the whole dysfunctional family dynamics.

Emma Roberts as Casey. Now, she is independent, rebellious, sarcastic and hard to trust. Her straightforward nature lighten up the show. Moreover, she might the only one with witty nature between them. She can think; she has to think.

The final boss is - Will Poulter as Kenny. And, in my opinion, he is probably one of the most unintentionally hilarious characters in the entire movie. His innocence, awkwardness and complete lack of understanding of certain situations make him an absolute delight to watch. Being honest, I also feel bad for him. All he wanted was a family, someone where is acknowledged and loved. That is why he was not making money, lol. Hiding my emotions behind that "lol."

For my final words, I would not say that the movie is a masterpiece. Neither it is intellectually boosted. To describe it in GenZ words, it is a brainrot content. You will feel like watching a bunch of people collectively lose their braining cells. And that is the reason behind it delivering the comedic work.

Honestly, I would not mind another road trip with the Millers. Just maybe without the marijuana smuggling :)
