Who says there are no more cool murals? You just need to look for them (preferably in places you have not looked before!) That's how I stumbled across this really nice image painted on the gate of ... what I assume is a café, or some eatery... The exact location is the corner of Rosa Blanca and Benvenuto Cellini in the Alfonso XIII neighborhood of Mexico City.
Frida and Marilyn
The murals shows two ladies drinking coffee and having a great time over it. Both are as famous as they should be: Marilyn Monroe, the American actress and beauty idol of the 1950's, and Frida Kahlo, her Mexican contemporary, who became famous for her paintings. Whether they actually happened to share a coffee together is up to speculation, and one may also want to dive into a contrast-comparison of the two. I'm not going to right now, but I really love the sheer joy of the moment expressed on their faces.

The bright colors of the painting suggest that it was created fairly recently, and also the street-view image is older than this (though that doesn't mean much...). The letting between the two ladies says the corner of taste, suggesting a café... However, there is no such establishment to be seen. On the left side of this gate there is a taco shop, on the right side a bakery. So the location offers itself beautifully for a coffee place. Maybe that's exactly what is preparing to open behind this gate, which this mural is announcing skillfully. Very well done!
Nocke! Mari 724
At this point I would mention the artist who created this painting, but it was not Nocke! Mari 724. In fact, it's not even a muralist! Apparently this line, evolved from a tag or throw-up, keeps appearing on (and in) street art images all over the city. Other than that, there is no identifying feature on the image.
