Societal Massacre

Every time I read an article about the increase in medication given to children for ADHD and depression, it saddens me. As far as I see it, it is the continuation of the trajectory further into the void for humanity. Children used to be innocents, now they are guinea pigs for pharmaceutical companies and victims of parents who have been conditioned to believe their children are broken.

Even though it is not a viable solution and creates more problems, filling them full of chemicals is easier than dealing with the causes. We live in a world of overtherapized adults who the overtherapize their children to the point children can no longer adequately develop through direct experience. So we have depressed preteens harming and killing themselves, as well as creating damaging environments for others.

If children are our future, the future is looking scary.

I don't blame the children, because they have had little choice over the environment in which they have been raised, or how their parents and society treat them. And they have been guinea pigs of not only pharma companies, but all of the media companies that have had free rein to run all kinds of digital and social experiments that they knew would cause irreparable damage to them, all in the quest for corporate profit for shareholders.

When our children are unhealthy, society is broken.

But a lot of people seem to discount how unhealthy the latest generations are and instead write it off as "evolution", as if we evolve rapidly and robustly to be able to deal with a very different technological environment. We do not, which is part of the reason that depression is increasing across all age groups, not just the younger ones. And ADHD symptoms are increasing too - but ADHD itself shouldn't. We have created a lot of sick people, and justify our creation because a few people got much wealthier.

Over twenty years ago M Night Shyamalan released the movie "The Village" where a group of parents created a community to protect their children from the world. They lived rudimentary lives as if it was 150 years ago and kept the population away from the borders with the fear of monsters in the forest. I can imagine that in the future, this kind of community will be common, where parents will want to protect their children, from other children. Children twisted by medication, culture, and content to become threats to those around them. It is already happening in some countries already, where the rich live in gated communities - yet their kids are still falling into addiction, depression and self-harm.

This is just the start of the visible decline.

It has been happening for decades, but we are entering a new phase of the crush. In the past, children were forced to grow up as they got older and had to get jobs to survive. But more and more, getting a job is going to be out of reach for many kids today, let alone a job that has a modicum of meaning in it. They are depressed as teens already; just imagine what that level of depression is going to be when they discover that they have no useful skills and are largely irrelevant. And they are surrounded by people who are in the same boat.

All anchors, no engine.

The state of the world saddens me and at this point, I only seeing it getting more difficult for everyone. So many think that making more money is the answer, as if that is the insulation that will keep them safe. But ultimately, that strategy will fail too. Living in a bunker is not the definition of a good life. Living in gated communities with four meter fences, armed guards stationed on towers around the perimeter, isn't a good life either.

It is prison.

Safe and secure.

It is sad. I watch my youngest son, busting his hump, traveling the country. Doing the bidding of the tech company he works for. Just so they keep him under 40 hours a week and don't have to provide him full time employee benefits. The hourly pay is nice, but it doesn't come close to helping pay for the excessive cost of buying his own health insurance and such. Lucklily he is thinking ahead and stashing his money into different investments.

  • I think we often care on individual actions, but the bigger picture can be much more complicated. It is worth asking whether the systems and habits we accept as normal are actually making our lives better.

Although I don’t know much about ADHD or the medical aspects of its treatment, I do want to believe that young people today are healthier. We have to remember that in the past, no one really cared about feeling or looking good—taking care of one's teeth, skin, and hair, or being mindful of the food one ate. This focus is much more apparent now than it was a century ago, when brushing one's teeth wasn't a priority. That said, we have also fallen into a trap of vanity where, driven by societal pressure, these healthy habits are sometimes taken to extremes.

It is alarming to see how society is raising depressed preteens who end up hurting themselves and damaging those around them

Seriously, the cost of drugs and children item in general is unbearable, mostly children items, from their wears to everything they need. And It's giving some people a second thought about have kids even if they are married. I don't know if the government are really seeing all this or they are just focused on their shit, maybe they intend to gain from it🤦

You've obviously never heard of the Amish eh? :) I'm just kidding. They might have something going there though. As for me, I prefer modern plumbing.

Big Pharma companies make obscene profits, so they have enough money to buy politicians and media... Have you seen how many commercials there are on Netflix and Amazon Prime for drugs?
