WTF: Over the Wall

We Talk Friday

(WTF)

This is a semi-regular series that I will run on Fridays to hold discussions on a current topic from the week gone. The aim is to keep them light and conversational, though some might be heavier - regardless of the content topic itself though, just have some fun engaging and discussing with whoever happens to put in the effort in the comments section below.

We Talk Friday Ep. 68: Over the Wall

1. Gang of Thrones

The King of Norway died today at 89, leaving his son Haakon as the new King. But in traditional royal style, it doesn't come without controversy, as the new Queen has a bit of a storied past, and present. Mette-Marit, after spending some time in high school in Australia, became a bit of a raver back in the nineties and had a child with a convicted drug dealer of some kind. You know, that happens. But fast forward a couple decades and that son, who is half brother to the crown prince and princess is under house arrest while appealing his conviction for rape and abuse against women.

He also looks a lot like Joffrey from game of Thrones.

And then of course, she had a close relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

... Ah, the glamour and grace of royalty.

2. Kiss my What?

I was reading recently about how @Gen-Z are no longer kissing much, because they either think it is gross or they fear fucking it up and being embarrassed. I am embarrassed for them. But since they are active on Tinder, what this means is that they have now made it all transactional, keep emotions out of - no kissing the prostitutes. Ah well, they aren't having much sex either. I guess this is why there is a rape culture in high schools - and of course, learning from the example of royals.

I have never fully understood how so many people have so much trouble finding sexual partners. Any insight?

3. Politics of Petty

With the ongoing "trade war" (random nonsense) between the US and Canada, Trump has officially changed the name of Lake Ontario, to Lake America. Clever. The thing with changing the names of places and landmarks is, that no one else need change. So the rest of the world will leave the name as is. But, what might be fun is if the rest of the world decide to get in on the game and start changing their national official names of places in the United States. Fifty new state names, all the cities, all the parks and random places, and then update the maps. It could be a global competition where people could vote on what names a place should have.

I will be visting Yorky McYorkface to see a Broadway show.

And this is what taxpayer money gets spent on.

If you could rename a famous landmark, what would it be and what would you name it?

  • And then of course, she had a close relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

Damn. it seems that this name pops up literally everywhere.

I also saw something about Trump wanting to change the name of at least one ocean. Not sure if that is true. It probably is...

Also speaking about trump. This person makes funny videos of trump:

History and meaning are everything and not politics all the time

I haven't had time to pay much attention to the OSM forums lately but after skimming this I sidled on over to see how they were dealing the renaming debacle and as I expected it's being dealt with very sensibly (unlike the blithering idiot in charge of that country), but I got a giggle out of the reading the thread anyway XD

I would rename statue of Liberty into the Statue of Biberty 😀

People can really turn simple things into a big competition. If I could rename a famous landmark, I would probably give it a name connected to its history instead of politics.

I feel sorry for teenagers today. Things seemed so much simpler in my day, before men and women apparently decided they hated each other.

You went to the local dance, met a cute fella, started dating and, after a few weeks or even months, decided whether you actually wanted to take the relationship any further. There was no worrying about whether he might be gay or, indeed, might actually be a woman, and certainly no expectation that sex should happen on the first date. You got to know someone first. Imagine that!
