August was heavy.
Not just the heavy that can be measured by the things I had to carry, the responsibilities I had to fulfill, or the long days I had to survive. It was the kind of heaviness that settled quietly inside me—the kind that no one could see, but I could feel every single day.
There were moments when I did not even know how to explain what I was feeling. I knew that I was tired. Tired of thinking, tired of worrying, tired of pretending that everything was okay when, deep inside, I was struggling to keep myself together.
And yet, here I am.
I survived August.

That sounds like a small achievement to some people. But for me, it means something more. It means I continued even when I wanted to pause. I woke up every morning and faced another day. I went to work, fulfilled my responsibilities, talked to people, smiled when I could, and continued living despite the heaviness I carried within me.
Sometimes, surviving does not look heroic. Sometimes, surviving means getting out of bed. Sometimes, it means showing up even when your heart is exhausted. Sometimes, it means choosing to continue without knowing exactly how things will turn out.
And maybe that is what I learned from August—that existing is already an act of courage when life feels too heavy.
August tested different parts of me. It reminded me that I won't always be strong, and that is okay. Some days I can accomplish so much; other days, the only thing I can do is breathe, rest, and make it through.
I used to think that being strong meant never breaking down. Now I understand that strength can also mean acknowledging that I am tired and still choosing to move forward.
I do not have to have everything figured out. I do not have to be okay all the time. I only have to keep going. And now, September is here.
The month that officially opens the much-awaited “Ber” months.
There was a time when September's arrival filled me with excitement. The moment September came, I could already feel Christmas in the air. I loved the familiar feeling—Christmas songs slowly returning, decorations appearing in stores, the anticipation of gatherings, and the thought of another year coming to an end.
The “Ber” months used to feel magical.
But somehow, things have changed.
Now, these months feel bittersweet.
I still appreciate the Christmas lights. I still love the songs. I still smile when I see decorations starting to appear. But the excitement isn't the same. This season carries memories now—memories that make the holidays feel different.
Sometimes, the seasons remind us not only of celebrations but also of the people, moments, and versions of ourselves we have lost along the way.
The older I get, the more I realize life doesn't stay the same.
People change. Circumstances change. Our hearts change.
And even the things that once made us completely happy can carry a little sadness when we experience them again.
Maybe that is what growing up really means—learning how to hold happiness and sadness in the same heart.
I can miss what used to be while still appreciating what I have today. I can remember the past without allowing it to stop me from moving forward. I can acknowledge that the “Ber” months no longer feel the same and still find little reasons to smile.
September has begun.
It does not have to erase everything that happened in August.
It does not have to make everything lighter suddenly.
Maybe September can be a new page. A quiet reminder that I made it through another difficult chapter.
I am still here. Still breathing. Still existing. Still trying. Still hoping.
That may be enough for now.
As I step into another month, I want to carry the lessons August left behind. I want to be gentler with myself. I want to stop measuring my strength by how much pain I can endure. I want to remember that resting is not weakness, asking for help is not failure, and taking things one day at a time is still progress.
I don't know what September will bring. Maybe there will be beautiful days. There may be difficult ones. Maybe there will be unexpected blessings. Maybe there will be moments that make me cry.
But whatever comes, I want to face it with the same quiet courage that carried me through August.
I have already survived days I once thought I couldn't. I have already made it through moments that felt unbearably heavy.
So, September, I am ready. Not because I am completely healed. Not because I have everything figured out. Not because I am fearless.
But because I have learned I can be afraid and keep going.
I can be tired and still take another step. I can be hurting and still choose to live.
And maybe this year, the “Ber” months do not have to be as exciting as they once were.
They could be something deeper. A season of remembering. A season of healing. A season of gratitude. A season of quietly finding joy again.
So here I am, welcoming September with a different heart—one that has been tired, wounded, tested, and yet somehow still hopeful.
Goodbye, August. Thank you for reminding me how strong I can be.
And hello, September. I may not know what lies ahead, but I am here.
