We do hope this Trouble Note finds you well.
Today, we’ve arrived “home” for the first time in what feels like an entire season. We set sail at the end of June for what would become our biggest summer festival season to date. You’ve read all the updates over the past few months, and suffice it to say, it’s been a very successful summer!
Now, as I sit here in my apartment in Berlin staring at the massive list of things that need to get done (I was already at the Immigration Office at 7am this morning to extend my EU work permit 😅), I can’t help but feel that we’re about to enter one of the most important phases of our musical lives together.
Echoes of Eldbriaris has been a lovely success for us this year and has added so much new depth to where we can go next.
A few days ago, we performed at London’s legendary Jamboree, and there was a moment when we stepped back and realized just how “good” we’ve gotten at weaving music and stories together. In our earliest days, we were known for playing wild and fast tunes in the streets. Somewhere along this journey, we’ve morphed into epic narrators, while somehow keeping that raw energy and virtuosity intact.
And now it’s time to take that transformation even further.
This coming week begins an important next step: finalizing the arrangements for the full album and getting closer to a finished first draft of the novel.
There are still a handful of shows coming up this month, but as we reach the true end of summer, we’re entering a sustained period that we’ve deliberately earmarked for creativity, writing and transformation.
In some ways, this is uncharted territory for us.
Historically, The Trouble Notes have existed on the never-ending tour. There was always another city, another festival, another country waiting around the corner. This time, we’ve intentionally blocked out a significant amount of time to stop moving and focus on growth.
One could say that we're going to be "Losing our Ties" all over again...
We’re confident about where we’re going, but also a little anxious about the whole thing. There’s a lot riding on what we create over the coming months, and we want to give it the time and attention it deserves.
And importantly, we want to bring you along for that process.
Here on Hive, we’re going to give you a much more detailed look into the creation of the album and novel: the songs as they evolve, the story behind them, demos, arrangements, characters, ideas that work, ideas that don’t, and the decisions that eventually shape the next chapter of Mnemorith.
You’ve been with us through the journey that brought us here. Now we get to show you what happens when The Trouble Notes finally step off the road for a little while... and build a world.
