What sad news, @tipu! 😢
Five years of support for so many Hive users and communities: thank you for everything you've done.
You didn't name the law, but for anyone wondering which EU rules are involved, these are probably the main ones:
- MiCA – Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (EU) 2023/1114: since 30 December 2024, anyone providing crypto-asset services (custody, transfers, exchange, etc.) needs a CASP licence from a national authority, with transitional periods ending at the latest on 1 July 2026. 👉 EUR-Lex · ESMA – MiCA
- Transfer of Funds Regulation (EU) 2023/1113 ("Travel Rule"): since 30 December 2024, crypto transfers handled by service providers must carry sender and recipient data. 👉 EUR-Lex
- DAC8 – Directive (EU) 2023/2226: since 1 January 2026, crypto service providers must report their users' transactions to tax authorities. 👉 EUR-Lex
- AMLR – Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (EU) 2024/1624: it will apply from July 2027 and adds stricter customer checks for crypto providers. 👉 EUR-Lex
For a small, volunteer-run project, licences, reporting duties and possible fines are a real wall. 🧱 I'm not a lawyer, so everyone should check their own situation with a professional. But it's a pity that rules written for big exchanges end up hitting small community tools too.
Thank you again, Tipu, and good luck with whatever comes next! 🙏
