Pass It On.

I have had a lot of good things happen to me done by people but one that stands out and is more recent than most happened during a week that I genuinely did not see coming in any direction.

Ai was very broke and yes I don't mean a casual brokenness, I mean real brokeness , In sapa mode, the way where you are doing quiet calculations in your head every hour and none of them are adding up, that kind of broke, the kind that sits heavy and makes everything feel a little harder than it normally would.

Then my friend sent me money, No warning, no prior conversation about my situation, no moment where I had hinted that things were tight, it just came, an alert I was not expecting from someone who apparently just decided that day to show up for me, i sat with my phone in my hand for a moment after I saw it and I felt something shift, not just relief though the relief was very real but something warmer than that, the feeling of being seen by someone without having asked to be seen, that is a specific kind of gift that money alone cannot fully explain.

It made my week, genuinely made my entire week.

Now what happened next is the part I want to talk about because this is where the story gets interesting to me.

That same week I came across an old family friend, she messaged me out of nowhere and I was surprised she even reached out because I had assumed for a long time that she had relocated abroad and was living her life somewhere far away, we had not spoken in a while and her message caught me off guard in the best way.

We started talking and somewhere in the conversation the real picture emerged, she had not relocated. She had gone through a divorce and had been struggling quietly since then, the kind of struggling that people do privately because they do not want to become a topic or a burden, she was not complaining, she was not asking for anything, she was just talking, just reconnecting, just being honest about where life had taken her.

And I thought about my friend, the one who had not waited for me to ask.

I asked her to send me her account number.

She hesitated, asked me why, I told her not to worry about why, just send it, she did, and I sent her what I could. It was not a life changing amount, I want to be honest about that because I was not in a position to perform any kind of grand gesture, but it was genuine and it was from a place of actually wanting to put something good into her hands the way something good had been put into mine just days before.

She called me after, I could hear in her voice that it had come to her in a way that mattered, and the feeling alone, the one where you know you have done something that actually helped someone, not just for recognition, not because you were asked to do so, but just because you could that feeling is something I want to keep chasing.

And I see that's how goodness is supposed to be passed on, not in a direct line from one good person to another but also to the world at large, person to person, moments to moments, and each one passing it forward because they all remember what it felt like to receive.

This my friend didnt know that that he was actually teaching me anything on that day he sent the alert, he was just being his kind self, but you see kindness has a way of multiplying especially when it lands in the right hand.

I hope I was the right hands that week.

Honestly I do not take anything someone do for me for granted, because for someone to go length for you means a lot, and that is same thing I'm trying to reciprocate

Anyone who has gone through that sapa phase can literally relate to how you must've felt after recieving that money. And to think you also had your own way of sharing that kindness to a friend who is going through the tough moments. That is very touching.
