Legend of Zelda Gets First Person Treatment

Obviously, the original Nintendo console was not powerful enough to do a game such as the Legend of Zelda in 3D. It really couldn’t play any games in 3D. That doesn’t mean fans cannot port the original LoZ to a more powerful platform, PC for example, and recreate it in 3D, such as LOZ NES Remake, as it is currently named on YouTube.

Work in Progress But So Awesome

While this is still very much a work in progress, even after years of development, it is so phenomenally awesome looking. The reason for the long development is, this is mostly a single person development team at work here.

You can follow their devlog on Wordpress for more detailed information on the process and why certain choices were made.

Enemies Have Girth

Most things in the original Legend of Zelda appeared flat – it is the nature of the platform. Sure, the walls appeared to have some depth to them, but enemies were a different story.

Here we are treated to enemies, items, landscapes, all with girth, size to them. We see just how big certain enemies really were in comparison to Link. Dungeons appear to be more dreadful as you turn a corner, pass through a short hallway getting a peak at the next room.

The aura of Legend of Zelda is alive and well here, even accentuated by the switch to First-Person view. The whole thing appears to be familiar while still being enough new to hold your interest to see the next section, even if you know the original game like the back of your hand.

I wish there was a demo, a download, something to check out besides the devlog and some YouTube videos. Not only because I want to play this, but because Nintendo is VERY quick to shutting down these types of projects blocking the developer from releasing what they have made so far.

For now, enjoy the embedded video above and check out their YouTube channel
