Only 4 days into the current season, Iāve already unlocked Modern Division 6. This didnāt happen by chanceāI exhausted all my 'Modern' energy, and by last night, I was left with zero energy, waiting for it to refill so I could keep playing. Since it takes one hour for a single unit of energy to regenerate, even waiting an entire day would only yield 24 energy points. I was really itching to play, so I decided to wait a full day to accumulate enough energy for a decent session. After using all 50 energy pointsāand maintaining a win rate of over 70%āIām now on the verge of moving past Division 6. Furthermore, the 'welcome loot' I received upon unlocking Division 6 is quite interesting; it includes 3,000 Glint, along with 4 Minor chests and 2 Major chests.
Aside from the 3,000 Glints, letās look at the first 4 Minor Chests. From these, I received 256 Merits and 2 cardsāone Common and one Rare. The Common card is an Earth-element magic attack card called "Stonebind Matron." With a mana cost of 8, it doesn't seem particularly powerful. In my deck, Iāve upgraded it to Level 4, which has increased its speed by 1 point and its health by 2 points; however, it still feels somewhat underwhelming, as it lacks any armor for extra protection. That said, I noticed that at Level 5, the card gains the "Triage" ability, which restores one-third of its maximum health every roundāat that point, it will likely become one of my favorite cards.
Similarly, the Water-element melee attack card "Surgehammer" also starts with low health and no armor. In my deck, I have it upgraded to Level 3, where it gains +1 health and 1 point of armor, making it a bit strongerāplus, it has a lower mana cost. However, the most significant difference between the two lies in their attack power. This is crucial because, while melee attacks must get through armor to reach a target's health, magic attacks bypass armor entirely to strike health directly. Given the choice, I personally prefer magic attack cards over melee ones.
From two Major Chests, I received 436 Meritsāa significantly better haul than what I typically get from Minor Chests. The second chest contained two copies of a common Fire-element card: 'Cullborn Revenant.' At Level 1, it possesses a magic attack but appears quite weak in terms of health. However, in my deck, I have upgraded this card to Level 4, granting it +2 Health and +1 Speed. Its final stats now include 2 Magic Attack, 1 Armor, 4 Health, and 3 Speed, along with the 'Snipe' abilityāmaking it a noticeably better card than it was at Level 1. That said, I still only use it when absolutely necessary, though it performs reasonably well when deployed. Ultimately, a card's performance often depends on how effectively you integrate it into the right lineup.
Splinterlands isn't an easy place, but that's what makes it even more fun. A perfect strategy takes into account many factors, including stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and more. That's why it's even more important to consider all these factors when developing a strategy. Add good cards to your deck, but also work on improving your strategies, and strive to win as many battles as possible!š„
