I finished Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 and I'm completely in SHOCK

Ok gamers, I'm not going to start this one the usual way. I'm just going to say it straight up: this has been AN INCREDIBLE GAME. It's been a while since I've seen this much blood, gore, destruction, optimization, graphics, and story all put together this well at the same time. It's going to be hard to write this article without falling into just gushing about the outstanding graphics of this game, which push your PC to its limit running at 1080p on max settings. It's genuinely hard not to highlight something this spectacular, but I'll let the images speak for themselves and let them show you the beauty of this great game.

Let's talk about the story

The story revolves around Lieutenant Titus. I never played the first Space Marine, so I have no idea where the story originally comes from, and honestly, I don't really know the lore of Warhammer either. In previous articles I've mentioned a bit of what I've discovered about the story along the way, but here's the thing, you don't need to know the franchise or its lore to connect with the character. His devotion to the Emperor, his squad, and that very human trait of pushing through against any adversity make him a genuinely worthy companion to fight this war against heresy alongside.

His two companions, who join him in this reinstatement with his new rank of Lieutenant, each have their own personalities that clash with his, that carry doubts, and that even disobey Lieutenant Titus more than once to do things their own way. And yet, in the end, the brotherhood and the shared drive to survive against an enemy devouring the galaxy end up being stronger than anything else. That dynamic between the three of them is honestly one of the best parts of the whole campaign, watching how their relationship shifts from tension and suspicion to genuine loyalty by the time everything comes crashing down.

What really got me is that none of this felt forced. It would've been easy for the story to lean entirely on lore and expect you to already know who's who, but instead it builds everything through the characters themselves, their conversations, their conflicts, their small moments of humanity in the middle of an absolute nightmare of war. By the end, you're not just fighting because the mission tells you to, you're fighting because you actually care about these guys making it out alive.

A deadly final enemy: Imurah

A heretic with a personal history tied to Titus turns out to be the deadly enemy of this Warhammer saga, and we have to take him and every enemy standing in our way down in this final mission. I'm sure that if you know the lore well and came from the first game, all of this hits a lot harder and means a lot more, but for me, it was a complete surprise. The battle is simply epic, and it's an ending you really don't see coming.

Without getting into spoiler territory, I can say that this final confrontation does an amazing job of tying together everything the campaign has been building toward. It's not just a big flashy boss fight thrown in because the game needed a climax, it actually feels earned. Every mechanic you've learned, every bit of combat mastery you've built up over the campaign, gets tested here. The scale of it, the intensity, the way the environment itself seems to be falling apart around you while you fight, all of it comes together into one of those final battles that genuinely sticks with you after the credits roll.

Graphics that carry the whole experience

I already said it at the start, but it deserves its own space here. This game is a technical showcase from start to finish. The level of detail on the armor, the environments, the enemies, the way light and fire interact with everything on screen, it's all done at a level that honestly surprised me for a third-person action game with this many enemies on screen at once. Running it at 1080p maxed out really shows off what Saber Interactive managed to pull off with this engine.

And it's not just about looking pretty in still shots either, it holds up in motion too, during the chaos, during the huge enemy swarms, during massive cinematic moments where the camera pulls back to show you the scale of the war happening around you. There were multiple points throughout the campaign where I just stopped for a second mid-mission because the scenery genuinely impressed me. That's rare for me in a game this action-heavy, where you'd expect all your attention to be locked onto survival instead of the scenery. Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2_2026.09.27-14.16.gif

No spoilers, and wanting more, I can tell you it was worth every penny

I still haven't tried the online mode, so I don't know how good it is yet, but even if this game didn't have an online mode at all, I can tell you it wouldn't need one. In a future post I'll dive into the online and co-op modes the game offers, but as it stands right now, the beginning, the development, and the final climax of the campaign are more than deserving of a very, very positive review.

Finishing this campaign left me with that rare feeling where you're happy it's over but also kind of sad to see it go. I want to know more about this universe now, I want to understand more of the lore, and honestly, I'm tempted to go back and replay some missions just to enjoy the combat and the scenery again without the pressure of pushing the story forward. That says a lot about how well this game hooked me, considering I walked into it knowing basically nothing about Warhammer 40K.

So, gamers, without anything else to add, all I can say is that you need to play Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 whenever you get the chance. This has been one of the best surprises I've had in gaming in a long time, and I'm genuinely excited to keep exploring everything else it has to offer beyond the campaign. See you in a next post!
