My Introduction Post: A Decade as an OFW, Now a Mother of Two

I am Verbytells, and I am happy to be here in the Hive community. Today, I want to share a little story about my life, my family, and the journey that brought me to where I am today.

10 years ago, I worked as an OFW in Kuwait. Like many Filipinos working abroad, I had dreams for my family. Being away from home was not easy, but I kept going because I wanted to help my loved ones have a better life.

For me, my journey as an OFW was successful because I was able to help my siblings finish their studies who is now working online as a Executive Virtual Assistant while taking care of our father. I also helped my other brother with his education. Seeing them graduate made me feel that all my sacrifices were worth it. That was one of the happiest moments of my life.

After helping my siblings reach their dreams, it was my turn to build my own family. God blessed me with two beautiful daughters who give me so much joy and inspiration.

Today, I am happy with my life and farming.

The farm is one of the things I was able to establish through my hard work abroad.

Whenever I see the plants growing, I remember the sacrifices I made and feel thankful for how far I have come. For me, success is not only about material things. It is also about having a peaceful life and seeing the people you love doing well.

Aside from being a mother and a farmer, I am also an active catechist in our Church. Serving God is one way I can share my faith and give back for the blessings I have received.

I joined Hive because @antonette and with encouragement of @dreamrona, she told me that in this community I could freely share whatever I wanted to write about, even the burdens in my heart. I can write about my life without being afraid to speak from my heart. She wants me to keep going and growing, express my self and discover what I can do through writing.

Now, I am excited to meet new friends and share little stories about my life.

I can say that you’re really wise when it comes to managing your money. You invested the money you earned while working abroad in things that would support you whenever you decide that you no longer want to work overseas. Buying land was definitely a wise decision, and now you’re already putting it to good use for farming. It's great to see how your hard-earned money is helping you build a better future!
