It’s Never Too Late to Fulfill What We Left Unfinished
According to what society dictates, there are goals that seem to have an expiration date. For example, finishing high school at a certain age, starting a university degree after 20 and graduating before 30, getting a good job…
Society often establishes a kind of invisible “calendar” for our lives, and if we fail to accomplish everything on time, we may begin to think that those goals have been left behind and that we have already “missed our chance.” But one of the biggest mistakes we can make is confusing “arriving late” with “losing the opportunity.”
This reflection I am sharing with you was inspired by Mexican singer Cristian Castro, who graduated from high school today. The artist received his certificate during an emotional graduation ceremony. What was most striking was not only that he decided to return to school after so many years, but also the happiness with which he celebrated achieving something that had remained unfinished since his youth.
And there is something very significant that I want to highlight about his story: he did not need that diploma to prove that he had succeeded. His career as a singer speaks for itself, as it had already been established for decades. He has spent much of his life on stage, recorded numerous albums, and built a career that many people would consider more than enough to say, “You’ve already made it.”

I was deeply moved by the happiness with which he spoke about it, because that motivation is precisely what we should strive to preserve, especially during our youth.
At a time when there are so many opportunities to start businesses and generate income independently, it is also important to remember that education and preparation will always matter. Many young people find entrepreneurship to be a way to earn money quickly and build something of their own, which is certainly a positive thing.
However, entrepreneurship and education do not have to be opposing goals; they should go hand in hand. Nowadays, I have noticed that a large part of the younger generation no longer seems interested in pursuing formal education. Leaving aside the economic difficulties, which also play an important role, there is a growing tendency to seek immediate results, and this has made long-term preparation less appealing.
That is why I think it is wonderful that someone as famous and well-known as Cristian Castro is setting an example that it will always be important to learn, prepare ourselves, and strive for personal growth, regardless of our age or how much success we have already achieved.
His story can also serve as motivation for those young people who feel that studying is no longer necessary. Money can come through different paths, but knowledge, discipline, and preparation are tools we can carry with us, regardless of what we ultimately choose to do.
This was a lesson in personal growth for everyone who has forgotten dreams.
Because studying something we were unable to study when we were young is not always about getting a better job, increasing our income, or proving something to other people. Sometimes, it is about reclaiming a part of ourselves—a part that was forgotten because of certain circumstances that were beyond our control.
Perhaps some of you reading this wanted to graduate but couldn’t. Maybe you started a university degree and had to abandon it. We may think that we are too old, that people will judge us, and that our classmates will be much younger than us. We may even feel that by then we should be doing “more important things,” “grown-up things.” But who decided that learning has an age limit?
Life does not always follow the order we imagined or the one our parents taught us to follow. Some people have to survive first and dream later, and along that journey, they discover that there are still things they want to accomplish.
There is nothing ridiculous about that. On the contrary, there is something incredibly brave about looking at a goal that has remained unfinished for years and saying, “I want to do it.”
We have to remember that the longer we postpone an achievement because we believe we are “too old,” the more years will continue to pass. Five years from now, we will be five years older. So, if you can start now, start now. Because, for example, if you are 51 today, in the blink of an eye you will be 56, and you may regret not having started at 51, when you finally found the motivation to do it.
And that is one of the most inspiring aspects of Cristian Castro’s story—and of the stories of so many people who decide to return to their studies. His decision shows us that personal growth does not end when we reach a certain age or a certain level of success. Pero uno de los mayores errores que podemos cometer es confundir “llegar tarde” con “haber perdido la oportunidad”.
Esta reflexión que les comparto fue inspirada por el cantante mexicano Cristian Castro, quien se graduó hoy de bachiller. El artista recibió su certificado durante una emotiva ceremonia de graduación. Lo más llamativo no fue solamente que decidiera regresar a los estudios después de tantos años, sino la felicidad con la que celebró haber conseguido algo que había quedado pendiente desde su juventud.
Y hay algo muy significativo que quiero resaltar de su historia: él no necesitaba ese diploma para demostrar que había triunfado. Muchos jóvenes encuentran en los emprendimientos una forma de obtener ingresos rápidamente y construir algo propio, lo cual es bastante positivo.
Sin embargo, emprender y prepararse no tienen por qué ser logros opuestos, deben ir de la mano. Actualmente, noto que gran parte de esa juventud ya no tiene deseos de estudiar, apartando el tema económico que también influye, existe una tendencia a buscar resultados inmediatos, lo que ha hecho que la preparación a largo plazo pierda atractivo.
Por eso me parece excelente que una persona tan famosa y reconocida como Cristian Castro dé el ejemplo de que siempre será importante aprender, prepararse y superarse, independientemente de la edad que se tenga o del éxito que ya se haya alcanzado.
Su historia también puede servir de motivación para aquellos jóvenes que sienten que estudiar ya no es necesario. El dinero puede llegar por diferentes caminos, pero el conocimiento, la disciplina y la preparación son herramientas que podremos llevar con nosotros, sin importar a qué nos dediquemos finalmente.
Esto fue una lección de superación personal para todos los que tienen metas olvidadas.

Podemos pensar que somos demasiado grandes, que nos van a juzgar y que nuestros compañeros serán mucho más jóvenes que nosotros, por lo que deberíamos estar haciendo “cosas más importantes”, “cosas de adultos”. Sin embargo, ¿quién decidió que aprender tiene una edad límite?
La vida no siempre sigue el orden que nos imaginamos o que nos inculcaron nuestros padres. Hay quienes deben sobrevivir primero para después soñar y, en ese camino, descubren que todavía existen deseos que quieren cumplir.
No hay nada ridículo en ello. Al contrario, hay algo muy valiente en mirar una meta que quedó pendiente durante años y decir: “quiero hacerlo”.
Hay que pensar que, mientras más atrasemos ese logro por considerar que tenemos una “edad avanzada”, los años van a seguir pasando y, de aquí a cinco años, seremos cinco años mayores. Si pueden empezar ahora, háganlo ahora. Porque, por ejemplo, si hoy tienen 51 años, en un abrir y cerrar de ojos tendrán 56 y quizá se arrepientan de no haber comenzado a los 51, cuando tuvieron el impulso de hacerlo.
Y ese es uno de los aspectos más motivadores del caso de Cristian Castro —y el de muchas personas que deciden retomar sus estudios—. Su decisión demuestra que la superación personal no termina cuando se alcanza cierta edad o determinado nivel de éxito. Siempre podemos aprender algo nuevo, descubrir una profesión diferente, desarrollar una habilidad o, simplemente, demostrarnos que todavía somos capaces de conquistar aquello que alguna vez creímos perdido.
