Move Your Body, Improve Your Life // LOH 306

Exercise is one of those activities we're often encouraged to partake in, and that's because it's a physical activity that helps more to move our body and muscles, and when we talk about exercising, there are different ways we can partake in it, such as walking, stretching, jogging, swimming, and dancing, among many others, to name but a few. Additionally, we must also know that exercising has lots of benefits, like improving health, controlling our blood pressure, managing body weight, improving our sleep quality, and flexibility, and balance, among many others, but then is there an age limit for exercising or a specific age range you must be to exercise? Below I'll state my take on these and several other related questions, so without further ado, let's get to them.

To start with, when it comes to if there's a specific age for exercising, I'd say no, there isn't, or there shouldn't be, and that's because exercise shouldn't necessarily have an age; it can begin or end. Even newborn babies are being massaged on a daily basis to aid their flexibility, so as long as our body allows it, then we can pick an exercise activity that is suitable and appropriate for our physical condition and age. Saying "active" shouldn't be about it; even while sitting down, there are activities we can do that are also exercise, and that's why I'm of the opinion that there shouldn't be specific age limitations because as humans we can stay active for almost every stage of life.

The only difference is that exercise might vary with time and as we grow, in the sense that the exercises we can do in our youthful age might not be advisable in our old age; however, that doesn't mean when we are above 70 or so, we would stop exercising or being active. What I'm saying is that a young, overflowing night finds it easy to run, indulge in gym workouts, and do other high-intensity activities. We can't recommend the same for older people like adults because of their age and strength capacity, so for them, it could be as simple as walking, swimming, stretching, and other low-impact exercises, but being low doesn't mean they won't make a difference in their body system.

Regardless of the kind of exercise we partake in, what matters most is our consistency and not the level of active intensity. It's not about spending hours in the gym or doing those activities; the consistency to partake in it on a regular basis is what makes the difference.

As for me, as regarding if I'm actively participating in exercising, I'd say yes, but there is lots of room for improvement in how I do it at the moment, and that's because while I partake in exercise, I don't do it on a regular basis, and like I stated above, consistency is the key to getting the right results in anything we are doing. I understand the need for regular exercise, and that's why I'm trying, because as we grow old, it's what we do now that'll become part of our habits and won't be difficult to continue in our old age. We don't need to wait to have some health problem before we realize and start thinking of exercising; instead, we should make it a lifestyle from now on.

Overall and in conclusion, in my opinion, exercises shouldn't be seen just as a means to lose weight or gain muscle; they should instead be seen as an investment into our future. Even though there's no specific age for exercising, there should still be a reason to start today.

I agree with you. There’s really no specific age limit for exercise, but there may be some limitations, especially for older people. If they overdo it, their bodies can get tired or strained more easily, so it’s important to exercise according to their age and physical condition.
