Hello, book lovers... Today, I want to continue my journey through the Harry Potter novels. With the new series era just around the corner, let’s revisit the story within the books.
This fourth book is much thicker than the previous three. I used to dislike the fourth movie the most because that was when Voldemort returned and someone died—even though it wasn't one of my favorite characters. However, after reading the book, I realized just how many details were left out of the film, even though the story itself is incredibly exciting.
Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire
In this fourth book, Harry appears to have matured; he is a brilliant young man, much like his two best friends, Ron and Hermione. Before heading to Hogwarts, Harry spends time at the Weasley family home—where Hermione is also staying—before they all set off for the Quidditch tournament. Little did they know that Death Eaters were lurking nearby, creating an uproar by conjuring the Dark Mark in the sky. It was this chaos that forced Harry and the others to return.
The school term began, and it was announced that Hogwarts would host the Triwizard Tournament; consequently, two renowned wizarding schools arrived for a visit: the Durmstrang Institute from Northern Europe and the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic from France. The three schools were set to compete for the Triwizard Cup, but only three champions—aged seventeen or older—were permitted to participate. This rule caused considerable disappointment, as there had previously been no age requirement for competitors; however, the Ministry of Magic had established the regulations. Yet, during the selection process, Harry Potter’s name emerged as a fourth champion, even though he had never submitted his name to the Goblet of Fire. This seemed impossible, given that Dumbledore had placed a magical barrier around the Goblet to prevent students under the age of seventeen from approaching it. The entire school was thrown into an uproar, and Harry was accused of cheating. Nevertheless, nothing could be done to disqualify him, so he was compelled to compete alongside the other three champions: Cedric Diggory from Hogwarts, Fleur Delacour from Beauxbatons, and Viktor Krum from Durmstrang.
The book version is more engaging and detailed...
Reading the book version inevitably leads to comparisons with the film. I discovered just how many differences there are between the two, and I finally understood why Harry Potter readers had so many complaints when the movie was released. Back then, I hadn't read the books, so I didn't know what exactly had upset the fans. While reading the book, I was often surprised, thinking, "Wow, why isn't this part included? Why is this character missing? And why wasn't this fact revealed in the film? Did I miss a lot of details in the movie?"
I even re-watched the film to ensure I hadn't overlooked any small details; it turned out I hadn't missed anything—the film version simply left out a great deal of material.
They are....
- The character Winky, a house-elf and friend of Dobby, is absent.
- It is Dobby, the house-elf working in the Hogwarts kitchens, who provides the Gillyweed, having overheard Professor Mad-Eye's conversation, rather than Neville.
- The dynamic of the relationship between Ron and Hermione, the rat and the cat, is given more screen time.
- Barty Crouch was said to have died in prison, but it turned out that the person who died was not the real Barty Crouch Jr., but rather his mother, who had consumed Polyjuice Potion.
- Then there is a scene where Barty Crouch explains that the series of events Harry Potter experienced was a way to bring Voldemort back to life.
With so many details left out of the movie, I regret not reading the Harry Potter books sooner. Yet, my opinion remains unchanged; I still love the stories within them, even though the film version didn't include everything. My favorite part is, of course, the friendship between Ron and Harry, which became strained because Ron felt he had been lied to, as well as the relationship between Ron and Hermione, where seeds of jealousy began to sprout. I really love the book version. I hope the upcoming series adaptation doesn't deviate too much from the books.
That's why I rate this book with 4,5 from 5 start; Wonderfull!
Have you read this book? What do you think?

Hi, Halo, Annyeong! Welcome to my galaxy.
I have so much imagination in my head. Something that I can't achieve as a human and as a girl. So writing is very challenging. Since Junior High School, I have written whatever I want to write. Without skill, I just write what I want to read. Now I have 12th published novels and all of those are romance. Yeah, I proudly say that I am a passionate author, traveler wannabe, and blogger.
