It's the festival when an elder or younger sister ties her brother a band or a thread and prays for her brother's long life and healthy life and in return brother also gives a gift, this is one of the important festivals of Hindus. This festival is a festival of bond and happiness which strengthens the bond of a sister and a brother. In this festival brothers travel across states and cities to greet their sisters and that's why there is lot of traffic during the time of Raksha Bandhan and it is very common as the time of festivals approaches near,
the crowd, hustle and bustle and traffic around the cities increases rapidly because people buy gift and other things for their sisters and they celebrate this festival with lots of love and happiness, this is a way to show their love and affection towards their brothers and sisters. So, the main reason for celebrating this festival is that a sister should pray for her brother's long life and her brother should always make her safe from dangers.
