Not the best week from the point of the team score, but some of us had good progress as for the subscriber count: @theworldaroundme has 120 followers on her threads.com/@worlddigestjournal and @arsky 78 subs on threads.com/@savedintheframe after 3 weeks (if I am correct). I also saw good progress on my new Threads blog - it is 10 days old, and had one popular post that brought 32 followers (from 0), which is an awesome signal that the blog's concept works (compared to what I had on my cat Threads).

But the handle za7gorami is old and connected to my old IG - from the times when I had a blog "Beyond the seven mountains" about traveling in Georgia (in Russian). There is a big Russian-speaking audience on Threads, significantly from the Stans, especially Kazakhstan.

Although sort of related to traveling, my viral-ish post provoked people to talk about how awful India is. 😄 A 5-word comment saying "India is my worst fear" racked up 419 likes. 😁

But behind these numbers, there is a discovery I was searching for a long while...

The thing is I got tired of postcardish-style travelogues - I did it in the 2010s, and don't enjoy it anymore. A photographer's diary style (like my travelogue on Hive) won't work - it's too introverted, too self-focused for an engagement-centered social media platform like Threads.

So I was wondering what to post from my slow travels?

Then, I received a couple of comments saying, "I've read all your replies - they are smart and humorous". Okay, that was great praise, but I then thought "why would somebody read my replies, all of them, like, 70+ of them?" I am not a celebrity, then why? And I realized what people need: people often miss a connection to humans. People even don't call each other anymore - only chatting. And then they feel bored and lonely and start reading someone's replies on social media, missing better life and human warmth.

So that's what I realized: I should shape posts from my travels to make them deliver a human connection to guys commuting or lying in bed, procrastinating, feeling isolated. How? I will try to figure out the tone, but it's good to know what you offer: not beautiful pictures from travels, not shock content, but an opportunity to connect to you and people in the comments of your posts. Saying anything from the bottom of your heart with a drop of "wow" effect might be good.

    Right haha! Nothing much here for me but to be fair, I haven’t really explored threads deeply. Well, I kind of experimented a bit, and I even went to the dating threads with no likes 🤣🤣. Okay, okay, this is actually getting me really curious, so I might give it a good try. But as I mentioned previously, the algo has got some control. it is the king! so we’ve got to hack that algo if we can. 🤔 We’ll only know more as we share, so sharing little by little is not useless at all. We’re still in the learning stage.

    Wow, what a surprise, this was very unexpected. After my worst week, I've just had what is, for the moment, my best week on Threads. I don't want to push my luck, so I'd like to thank my new followers. This motivates me to keep going, since anything can happen.

    I’ve noticed something very similar with my Threads account. For a while, I felt like it was finally starting to get some more likes and comments, but recently my reach has dropped quite a lot. I mostly post photography and travel content, so your observations about more personal, conversational and sometimes even controversial posts performing better are really interesting. I think I need to experiment a little more instead of relying mainly on photos. :D This contest is actually a good motivation to figure out what Threads really wants from us. 😄

    I didn’t miss it. I’m just not going to participate in this way. I’m currently setting up an account for my personal project, which may be related to Hive and might involve some kind of promotion for it, but probably in a different form. That’s why I won’t be participating in the contest - I don’t have time for everything. I don’t need to get paid for my work. Let Hive stay in Hive. I guess that’s what’s needed right now, though I’m not sure - I’m not an expert :)

    Wow, well done! I think you have found a place for your niche there, @x-rain. 😄 The photo is definitely interesting, and it definitely sparks conversations. I noticed that too at the start, that comments can do well and could also be used to promote. I think I actually mentioned that to you.

    So it is good to make genuine comments.

    Threads likes more visuals, and I’ve noticed that people don’t want to read very much. They also share facts without even providing sources, and no one complains, which is very unlike Reddit, where people love to scrutinise every word. 😅

    So I think it is more for everyday people who just want to have light interactions for entertainment. Let's see what we can learn next.

    Also, knowing how to promote Hive will be interesting. I assume we will discuss that in the future, whether to go there and make yourself known so they follow you or to get them interested in your content so they click the link. I prefer the latter. 😆
