Welcome to this week's entry for the for the CCC's Street Art Contest #319 hosted by @digi-me, in the Street Art community!
I carry within my body and soul the ancestral map, the profound encounter between light and shadow, for we are fire and strength, daughters of the same sky.
Trago no corpo e na alma o mapa ancestral, o encontro profundo entre luz e sombra, pois nós somos fogo e força filhas do mesmo céu.
It was this poem that served as the artist’s starting point for this piece.
The artist, Constança Bettencourt, a.k.a. c’marie, born in 1992, is a Portuguese artist whose artistic expression spans various techniques and materials, ranging from drawing to sculpture, painting, mural art, tattooing, digital illustration, and many other artistic fields.
The visual theme of her works always revolves around facial expressions and gestures, exploring lines of convergence and divergence. Whenever possible, the artist prefers to work with local communities, as she believes that doing so fosters integration and strong community involvement, as well as enhancing the value of the artwork itself.
A graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon, she also participated in the Erasmus Program at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, which enriched her cultural perspective.
She also studied opera singing at the Lisbon Conservatory’s School of Music.
I’m now going to discuss the piece the artist left for us on the mural I’ve been sharing over the past few weeks here in the community.

The balance of the elements—the interplay of various elements, including a woman’s body, her hand, and the flower piercing her chest—raises the artistic bar. Every detail matters, from the choice of hues to the geometric elements that add an unexpected depth to the piece.
The symbol of the bow and arrow also caught my attention, since, as a Sagittarius, it is an element that speaks to me deeply—solely for its aesthetic appeal, and not at all for its meaning or mysticism. I do not believe in astronomy per se. Rather, I admire the beauty of celestial bodies, their patterns, their trajectories, and the intensity of their light.
The connection between the stars and humankind is very ancient, and if we think about it, we all have stardust in our makeup, since the carbon atoms in our bodies all originated from a true Big Bang!
If we all share a common origin, why don’t we accept that and see things as they really are? We’re only on this physical plane for a short time, and we should use that time to leave things better than we found them. Don’t you think?
