Three Tune Tuesday ~ The Killer ~ Jerry Lee Lewis ~ Birthday Boy #110

Welcome to my #TTT #ThreeTuneTuesday entry!

Good afternoon, everyone!

How’s your last week of September going? Is everything going well? I hope so. Last weekend, I had the chance to visit some relatives in northern Portugal, specifically very close to Matosinhos.

Even though it was only three days, it felt really good, and I can assure you that those days were enough to partially recharge my batteries to keep going for a little while longer.

Good food, good weather, and friends. There’s hardly a better combination than that, don’t you agree?

Today I’m featuring another birthday boy, and from the long list of musicians, producers, performers, and songwriters who are celebrating—or would be celebrating—another year of life today, there’s one who is certainly best known to everyone. And here he is: the greatest country and rock ’n’ roll singer in the world, the great… Jerry Lee Lewis, also known as “The Killer.”

Born in 1935, he would have turned 89 today. He passed away on October 28, 2022. The great master of the world’s most famous music charts began recording in 1956, with nearly thirty of his songs reaching the top ten on the Billboard Country and Western Chart.

And for today, what could be better than letting these songs lull us and take us back to the movies of yesteryear and the student gatherings of half a century ago?

The post goes for Three Tune Tuesday challenge run by @ablaze. Don't be a stranger, and join the musical weekly ride!

Gotta love the one and only original wild man of 50s Rock!

Whole Lotta Shakin, and Great Balls o Fire, so foundational to all future punks and metal bands and fans. I'll throw in this cover from X, the LA band somewhat related to punk, new wave, metal and alt rock, popular in the early 80s. Taken from the remake of the original Breathless movie, here we have Richard Gere and Valerie Kasprisky in a doomed love affair.

Breathless, Originally by Jerry, Here by X

Thanks for keeping Jerry Lee Lewis alive!
